The visit to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City of the Governor of New South Wales, Australia

On May 22, Mrs. Margaret Beazley, Governor of New South Wales, Australia visited the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Australia relations.

The visit carries a strong message of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Australia

During this visit, the Governor of New South Wales was accompanied by representatives from Western Sydney University. The presence of representatives created more connections in expanding the partnership between the two countries. Welcoming the delegation, on behalf ofthe UEH side, there was the presence of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President. The Governor attended meetings and exchanges with leaders of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City on cooperation in education between the two countries.

Opening up a series of opportunities for cooperation and development for both sides

At the in-person meeting between the New South Wales State Government, the delegation of Western Sydney University and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Professor Yi-Chen Lan, Vice-Chancellor (Global Development) and Director of Vietnam Campus, Western Sydney University shared an overview of the cooperation relationship between University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Western Sydney University.

He said that since the signing of the MOU in 2008, the cooperation between the two countries has undergone 15 years of development. The Scholarship Program of the Ministry of Education and Training has provided Doctor of Business Administration programs to more than 25 students, and they are currently holding important positions at universities in Vietnam.

The collaboration has expanded to other areas listedsuch as Media, Data Science and Education. On the other hand, the number of students participating in the program in Vietnam reached an average of 1000 new students of which about 20% of students transferred to Australia to study. The flexibility and consistency of the program allow students to easily transfer between the two countries.

An educational partnership that benefits students in both countries

Also in this meeting, Ms. Margaret Beazley outlined the benefits that students get from the educational cooperation between the two countries.

The Governor has always been monitoring the development of Uuniversities in the area. She finds that the education sector in New South Wales is thriving and has high standards. In addition, she also found that cooperation between countries in the field of education helps students maintain connections with their homeland. Meanwhile, they can still connect with other countries in the field of trade, production and diplomacy.

In terms of location, Western Sydney University is located in the greater Sydney area - an important development hub in New South Wales. Face-to-face interaction in this area offers many benefits to students because New South Wales is home to high technology, medicine and potential businesses. She believed that the association with New South Wales is one of the benefits of cooperation between the two universities.

To end the meeting, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai, Vice President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, made remarkable statements. He was well aware that in order to solve global challenges, the parties, in order to solve global challenges, need to strengthen their cooperation.

"UEH is moving towards 17 United Nations sustainability goals. Therefore, expanding cooperation with Western Sydney University, as well as other universities in New South Wales, is recognizedseen as a way to realize this goal".

Dr. Dinh Cong Khai affirmingsaid that cooperation with universities in New South Wales is identifiedseen as a way to realize the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations.
