ThuyLoi University Visiting and Exchanging Experiences of University-level Administration with UEH

On the morning of 21^st April 2022, at Campus B - Nguyen Tri Phuong, the delegation of ThuyLoi University (TLU) visited, exchanged and learned experiences of university-level administration with University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).

Participating in the program were Doctor Bui Quang Hung - Vice President; Mr. Tran Anh Thanh Son - Head of the Administration Office; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phong Nguyen - Head of Scientific Management - International Cooperation Department; Doctor Tran Tien Khai - Head of Quality Assurance - Program Development Department; Doctor Doan Dinh Lam - Head of Facilities Department; Master Hoang Tuyet Anh - Director of Library.

Representing TLU were Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet - Vice President; Doctor Vu Thi Thu Thuy - Director of the Library; Master Ngo Van Anh - Assistant Director of the Library; Master Nguyen Trung Thanh - Director of Informatics Center - Library of TLU Branch; Doctor Truong Quoc Quan - Head of Quality Inspection and Assurance Department.

The overview of the meeting

Doctor Bui Quang Hung expressed his honor as the representative of the Head of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City when ThuyLoi University visited and worked: “ In 46 years of establishment and development, UEH asserted its position as one of the key national public universities, and got a prestigious reputation in the area and world. Pioneering the autonomy mechanism since 2014, UEH has been achieving positive effectiveness in university management, comprehensively advancing modern facilities to create standard study environments, and encouraging students in learning and creativity. In 2021, UEH officially conducted the restructuring strategies to form a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, aimed to train global citizens acting due to sustainable development. In the positive spirit of sharing and exchanging the growth, simultaneously, expecting to expand domestically and internationally, UEH was glad to welcome the delegation of ThuyLoi University to visit and work. We do hope that our cooperation will be a long-term relationship and contribute to the socio-economic growth of the nation.”

Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet - Vice President of TLU - expressed his pleasure when the Head of UEH created favorable conditions, enthusiastically supported and organized the sharing between the two universities: “ThuyLoi University is a public university which has a mission in training high-quality human resources, researching, developing and transferring advanced technology of science, engineering economics, and management, especially in the fields of irrigation, environment, natural disaster prevention and mitigation contributing to promoting industrialization, modernization and the sustainable development of Vietnam. In the globalization and exploitation of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the university always aims to develop according to the signals of the market. Therefore, ThuyLoi University currently visits and exchanges experiences with University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City which is one of the oldest universities with many successes in autonomy, administration, inspection, and facility construction, and has a high position on many international rankings. We expect that we will receive more sharings about experiences in university administration and orientations in smart facility constructions of UEH throughout the meeting.”

At the meeting, the Head of UEH actively shared experiences about the criteria of university rankings in the international ranking system that UEH has been attending; and the job of digitally organizing library service management.

The two universities exchanged and shared their experiences

Especially, within the framework of the program, the Head of ThuyLoi University visited the space of the UEH smart library. To present, in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, this first and only smart library is a general solution integrating “made-in-Vietnam” 4.0 technologies. Particularly, there are smart management, smart service provision, smart experience provision, and smart facility provision. This library aims to customize the library experiences of users, interactive spaces to create knowledge, and digitalization in the field of libraries. In addition to that, UEH Smart Library has more than 398,000 articles in the field of economics, of which, there are 600 articles from Harvard. Simultaneously, it connects with the database of more than 90 publishers of reputable universities in the USA and Europe listed as, University of Cambridge, Harvard University, University of Oxford and so on. Learners are able to register for self-study rooms, look up files online on websites, and receive enthusiastic assistance from the library’s employees.

Heads of UEH led the delegation of ThuyLoi University visiting the smart library

The visiting and working program of TLU at UEH took place in a close-knit atmosphere with straightforward and open sharings from lecturers who are leaders of the two universities. In the upcoming time, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and ThuyLoi University will together discuss the orientation of their comprehensive cooperation relationship in terms of training and scientific research activities.
