[UEH 50] UEH Organizes the UEH Visiting Lecturer Conference 2026: Connecting Knowledge, Co-creating a Sustainable Academic Ecosystem

22 Aug, 2026

On August 22, 2026, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized the UEH Visiting Lecturer Conference 2026, one of 22 key activities heading toward the 50th anniversary of UEH. Under the spirit of "Embracing Academic Excellence", the conference gathered over 200 visiting lecturers, practical experts, scientists, managers, and corporate leaders from home and abroad, alongside leaders from UEH and its academic units.

Over the years, 907 visiting lecturers, collaborating researchers and industry experts have accompanied UEH, making important contributions to the University’s academic ecosystem in their role as UEH Visiting Faculty

For the first time, at the momentous milestone of UEH’s 50th anniversary, the UEH Visiting Faculty Conference 2026 served as a forum dedicated to the UEH Visiting Faculty community. The event was not only an occasion to gather and express appreciation in this 50th anniversary year, but also marked a shift in how UEH connects with and develops academic resources beyond the University.

Above all, the conference welcomed more than 200 visiting lecturers and industry experts from Vietnam and abroad - scientists, specialists, managers and business leaders who have accompanied and continue to accompany the University.

Working towards the goal of “Embracing Academic Excellence”, as it enters a new stage of development, UEH continues to pursue standards of excellence in training, research and governance, in line with its positioning as a multidisciplinary, sustainable and internationally integrated university. Delivering the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng - President of UEH emphasized: “Over the past 50 years, alongside generations of lecturers, staff and learners, the companionship of academic collaborators from outside UEH has contributed a great deal to the quality of our teaching and research, our connection with practice and our academic reputation. Each of you came to UEH at a different moment and in a different role. But for UEH, all of you share one thing in common: you are part of the ONE UEH academic community”.

Bringing practice into the classroom for the long term through a network of trusted experts

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng presented the UEH Strategy Report, setting out an important message for the period ahead: the relationship with visiting lecturers and experts will not stop at an invitation to teach a course, join a research project or take part in a single professional activity. “Put simply, it is the journey from being a Visiting Faculty member to becoming a Key Academic Partner of UEH”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng shared.

Under this orientation, experts can engage more deeply in the UEH ecosystem through co-teaching, co-designing curricula, mentoring learners, supervising projects, conducting applied research, transferring knowledge and developing innovation initiatives.

An ecosystem for co-creating value and sustainable impact

As part of the event, MSc. Dương Minh Mẫn - Head of the Department of Organisational and Human Resource Development presented the paper “UEH Visiting Faculty: Current Status, Collaboration to Date and Development Orientations”. The presentation highlighted the strong growth of the UEH Visiting Faculty from 216 lecturers in 2020 to 789 in 2025, of whom 73% hold a master’s degree or higher - evidence of growth in both scale and professional quality. In addition, a Visiting Faculty Lifecycle model comprising five stages - Attract - Onboard - Contribute - Recognize - Connect - was proposed to enhance the experience and engagement of this community.

On that basis, UEH is orienting itself towards expanding its expert network in strategic fields such as AI, the green economy and digital transformation, together with accompanying programmes to attract and retain high-quality human resources.

From the perspective of connection and knowledge co-creation, Mr. Nguyễn Vũ Nhất Huy and Dr. Trần Khánh Lâm emphasized the value of creating regular “professional touchpoints”, helping experts move beyond the sense of simply teaching an assigned course to becoming true colleagues.

From the University’s side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Thùy Anh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Phong Nguyên affirmed their readiness to put in place mechanisms enabling full-time lecturers and experts to jointly integrate industry knowledge into international accreditation standards, as well as to broaden the range of roles beyond classroom teaching. In parallel, they proposed standardizing the title “Senior Visiting Lecturer” to provide fitting recognition, while emphasizing that optimizing technology infrastructure is a key operational enabler.

After 50 years, for UEH the story is no longer simply about how large its network of academic collaborators has become, but about how 907 individuals with different expertise, experience and networks can connect and create value together. From the classroom to the enterprise, from research to real-world problems, from individual collaborations to a ONE UEH community, the journey from Visiting Faculty to Key Academic Partner is opening up a new approach: the university is not merely a place for transmitting knowledge, but becomes an open space where many resources come together to create knowledge, develop learners and generate value for the community./.
