[UEH 50] "UEH Sports 50" Sports Festival: Spreading the Sports Spirit and Connecting the UEHer Community

As part of the series of activities towards the 50th anniversary of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (October 27, 1976 - October 27, 2026), on May 24, 2026, the "UEH Sports 50" Sports Festival took place at UEH Nguyen Van Linh Campus. The program is not only a playground for physical training but also a bridge for connection, strongly spreading the beautiful cultural identity of the UEH family.

The "UEH Sports 50" Sports Festival is one of 22 key activities celebrating UEH's 50th anniversary. The event was organized by the Organizing Committee for the 50th Anniversary of UEH in collaboration with the UEH Trade Union, affirming that the university's sustainable development journey always goes hand in hand with widespread and community-connecting movement activities.

Attending the Sports Festival were: Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen - Rector of UEH College of Business; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly - Vice Rector of UEH College of Business; Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Rector of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; M.A. Ho Thien Quyen - Deputy Director of UEH Mekong; along with leaders from offices, departments, schools, institutes, and centers.

From the UEH Trade Union, there were: Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of the UEH Trade Union - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Dr. Phan Thi Bao Quyen - Vice Chairwoman of the UEH Trade Union; M.A. Phan Thi Thu Hang - Member of the Standing Committee of the UEH Trade Union. In charge of professional matters and the referee team were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Son - Director of the Physical Education Center, along with lecturers from the Physical Education Center.

Notably, the Sports Festival truly became a major festival as it attracted the participation of 131 athletes ready to break through, along with over 200 cheerleaders who are officials, employees, and learners from all units across the university.

This year's Sports Festival opened up a vibrant competitive space with 03 team and technical combat sports, including: Men's Soccer, Table Tennis, and Chinese Chess.

A highlight of the program was the combination of different unit blocs to form inter-unit teams, creating opportunities for exchange, increasing cohesion, and promoting the spirit of collaboration among officials and employees across UEH.

After a day of competition from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM at UEH Nguyen Van Linh Campus, the weather did not dampen the determination of the teams.

The atmosphere on the competition venues was continuously lively with emotional matches: dramatic score chases in men's soccer under a knockout format on a 7-a-side field; flexible and focused serves in table tennis; and tactical strategic battles on Chinese chessboards.

Not stopping at purely athletic contests, the athletes' full efforts along with a civilized conduct culture and respect for competition regulations strongly spread the university's core values. The sportsmanship and beautiful cultural identity of UEHers were fully honored through each competition category, leaving deep impressions on the spectators.

Honoring the outstanding teams

After a day of competition, the Summary and Award Ceremony took place at 3:00 PM the same day. Giving the closing speech, Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of the UEH Trade Union, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, shared: "UEH Sports 50 is not only about athletic competitions but, more importantly, it is an opportunity for all officials and employees from all units to come closer together. The civilized, professional, and united spirit shown on the field today is the clearest evidence of the core values that UEH has nurtured for half a century."

First Prize: Devotion Team
Second Prize: Community Team
Third Prize: Solidarity Team and Creation Team
Consolation Prize: Devotion Team, Internationalization Team, Pioneering Team, and Sustainability Team

The "UEH Sports 50" Sports Festival concluded in a joyful, united, and fair-play spirit, leaving many beautiful moments among all units across the University. Continuing this atmosphere of connection, the Organizing Committee calls on UEHers to continue accompanying and cheering for the coordinated team competition category to be held within the framework of the UEH Family Day - "The Journey from Home to Future," taking place on July 4, 2026.

From "UEH Sports 50," the sports spirit, connection, and positive energy of the UEHer community will continue to spread, enriching the journey towards the 50-year milestone of UEH - a journey of solidarity, devotion, and co-creating the future.
