[UEH Alumni Reunion] The 7th Cohort Alumni Reunion: Returning to Alma Mater for UEH’s 50th Anniversary, Continuing the Journey Alongside UEH

On July 7, 2026, at Hall A.103, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) warmly welcomed nearly 140 alumni of the 7th Cohort back for a reunion on the occasion of UEH's 50th Anniversary. The event was a cherished opportunity for alumni to reconnect with teachers and friends, reminisce about beautiful memories under their beloved alma mater, reflect on UEH’s nearly half-a-century journey of development, and spread the core values of Gratitude, Connection, and Co-creation within the UEH Alumni community. In the warm atmosphere of this reunion, long-standing friendships and teacher-student bonds were further nurtured, reaffirming the enduring connection between generations of alumni and the University.

The programme was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng - Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; together with lecturers, representatives of UEH Alumni and a large number of Cohort 7 alumni from provinces and cities across the country.

An overview of the reunion

Delivering the welcome remarks to the Cohort 7 alumni returning on the occasion of UEH’s 50th anniversary, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng expressed his joy at receiving so many of them back at their alma mater after many years. He affirmed that the alumni community has always been an important part of UEH’s development journey, and shared the University’s notable milestones over nearly half a century of building and growth.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng introduced the highlights of UEH’s development in recent years: from the multidisciplinary university model with its member colleges, to the establishment and growth of UEH Mekong in Vinh Long and UEH Nexus Campus in Nha Trang, and to continuous investment in upgrading facilities and modern learning and working spaces to provide an advanced educational environment for learners and staff.

He also shared the renovations at Campus A ahead of UEH’s 50th anniversary, and introduced the development of UEH’s campuses, particularly the Nguyen Van Linh campus with its 11-hectare grounds, modern dormitory system and the many training and research activities effectively carried out in recent years. Alongside expanding in scale, UEH has always preserved the campuses tied to the memories of many student generations, while continuing to invest in order to meet the demands of development in an era of digital transformation and international integration.

In particular, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng emphasized UEH’s outstanding achievements in prestigious domestic and international university rankings. Those results are the fruit of the persistent efforts of many generations of academic and administrative staff and learners, together with the invaluable companionship of the alumni community throughout nearly 50 years of building and development.

These reflections from UEH’s leadership helped the Cohort 7 alumni look back on the development journey of the university they were part of from the very beginning. From the familiar lecture halls of years past to a multidisciplinary, internationally integrated university in constant renewal, UEH today stands as evidence of a journey nurtured by many generations of teachers, learners and the alumni community.

Speaking on behalf of Cohort 7, Meritorious Teacher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Hoàng Ngân shared his emotion at returning to his alma mater just as UEH approaches its 50th anniversary. He expressed his pride in the University’s strong progress and affirmed that generations of alumni will always accompany and contribute to UEH’s development in the road ahead.

He noted that from its earliest days to the present, UEH has always upheld the dynamic, creative and united spirit of the generations before. Its outstanding achievements in international rankings, its leading position within Vietnam’s higher education system and its strong investment in digital transformation have brought pride to generations of alumni.

The Cohort 7 representative also expressed confidence in UEH’s development direction in this new period, and affirmed that alumni will always accompany the University and stand ready to contribute to its activities. With the spirit of connection maintained over many years, Cohort 7 will continue to organize regular networking activities nationwide, creating opportunities for members to meet, share and turn towards their beloved alma mater.

In a solemn and moving atmosphere, representatives of the Cohort 7 Liaison Board presented a commemorative gift to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng as a sincere expression of gratitude to the University and its teachers, who have always accompanied generations of UEH students and alumni.

After the programme, the alumni toured Campus A with its many newly upgraded spaces prepared for UEH’s 50th anniversary. The renewed facilities and the modern learning and working environment stirred deep emotions as they witnessed the growth of the university they were once part of.

The journey of return continued with a visit and photo session at Turtle Lake and several other landmarks tied to the memories of Ho Chi Minh City. Each stop was a chance not only to capture commemorative photos but also for old friends to revisit the stories of their youth at UEH.

The reunion closed in a warm and emotional atmosphere, preserving the beautiful memories of youth at UEH. The journey of return continues the bond among generations of Cohort 7 alumni, helping to build an ever more sustainable UEH Alumni community and to accompany the University in inspiring and connecting generations of UEHers today and tomorrow.
