TalTech is distinguished by its ability to deploy practical products and technologies within its campus, from self-driving vehicles and the TalTech 100 satellite to e-Pavement and AI applications. The university boasts a modern digital campus where advanced technologies are tested daily, driven by the TalTechDigital initiative. TalTech is also home to the Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol, which hosts over 200 high-tech companies, including Skype.
With a similar development orientation, especially in the fields of Computer Science, Applied Technology, Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Sustainable University Development, expanding cooperation with TalTech is a crucial step for UEH. This partnership will help enhance the quality of UEH's training, research, and university governance in line with international standards and its internationalization goals.
MOU Signing Ceremony between UEH and TalTech – A Step Forward in Promoting Digital Transformation, Smart Cities, Innovation, and Sustainable Development
Attending the ceremony from UEH were: Dr. Dinh Cong Khai – Vice President (attending online); Ms. Le Thi Hanh An, M.A. – Deputy Head of the Department of Communications and Partnerships; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Hai Yen – Dean of the School of Banking; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chung Thuy – Vice Dean of the School of Banking; Dr. Nguyen Van Du – from the School of Government; Mr. Pham Nguyen Hoai, M.A. – from the Institute of Smart City and Management; and Mr. Huynh Duc, M.A. – from the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement (attending online).
From TalTech, attendees included: Prof. Dr. Jarek Kurnitski – Vice Rector for Research; representatives from the International Cooperation Office; Prof. Dr. Tarmo Kadak – Head of the Department of Accounting, School of Business and Governance; representatives from the School of Business and Governance and the School of Health Technologies; Prof. Dr. Ralf-Martin Soe – Director of the FinEst SmartCity Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merle Ojasoo – Head of the ESG Center; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natalie Aleksandra Gurvits-Suits.

UEH signed an MOU with TalTech
The key areas of cooperation outlined in the MOU between UEH and TalTech include:
Thematic Discussions to Foster UEHxTalTech Cooperation
During the working day at TalTech, the UEH delegation toured the School of Business and Governance, the self-driving vehicle research lab, the library, and modern technology testing areas. Thematic discussions were also held to present and align on strategic cooperation directions.
Mrs. Le Thi Hanh An, M.A., representing the UEH Sustainable Development Steering Committee, presented on "UEH's Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University Development Strategy." UEH proposed cooperation with TalTech in three main areas: (1) Developing an online course on "Green and Sustainable Skills for Professional Practice"; (2) Collaborating with the TalTech ESG Center to build a Net Zero Strategy Framework for local governments in Vietnam; and (3) Inviting TalTech to participate in the International Sustainability Forum.
Mr. Pham Nguyen Hoai, M.A., from the Institute of Smart City and Management (ISCM), introduced the institute's mission and presented opportunities for Smart City research cooperation. The MOU will serve as a foundation for ISCM-UEH to connect with TalTech's FinEst SmartCity Center to implement smart urban governance projects, with initial activities including lectures and participation in the RTD 2026 International Conference.
Dr. Nguyen Van Du from the School of Government presented an overview of Vietnam's healthcare system and proposed specific areas for cooperation with TalTech, including joint training programs in healthcare and technology management, and forming an international advisory group to support digital transformation in the healthcare sector.


The cooperation agreement with TalTech marks a significant step in UEH's international integration strategy, particularly in fields where Estonia has strong expertise, such as digital transformation, smart cities, and technological research. This partnership will be a crucial foundation for UEH to enhance its training and research quality, expand international learning opportunities for its learners, and affirm its position as a pioneering multidisciplinary and innovative university in Vietnam and the region.
