UEH attended and presented at the Conference on Human Resources Training for Operating Long Thanh International Airport
On the morning of March 13, 2024, at the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Hall, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) had a presentation at the Conference on Human Resources Training for Operating Long Thanh International Airport, which was jointly organized by Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee.
The Conference on Human Resources Training for Operating Long Thanh International Airport was chaired by Comrade Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and Comrade Vo Tan Duc - Standing Commissioner, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province.
Attending the Conference, on the side of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Dong Nai province, there was the presence of Mr. Pham Xuan Ha - Standing Commissioner, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Mr. Cao Tien Dung - Standing Commissioner, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's People Mobilization Committee; Mr. Vien Hong Tien - Provincial Party Committee member, Chief of Provincial Party Committee Office; Ms. Bui Thi Yen - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee; leaders of the Departments of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Finance, Department of Information and Communications, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Education and Training, Department of Health; leaders of the People's Committees of Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Cam My, and Thong Nhat Districts; leaders of the Southern Airport Authority and Long Thanh Port Authority; leaders of Vietnam Airports Corporation; and leaders of Universities and Colleges in Dong Nai province.
On the side of UEH, there was the presence of Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of UEH and Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting.
Overview of the Conference
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Vo Tan Duc - Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee - asserted that Long Thanh International Airport was one of the 16 most anticipated airport projects in the world. Therefore, preparations for national projects need to be prepared now, especially the training of high-quality human resources.

Dong Nai is located in the Southeast Economic Region - the most important growth pole in Vietnam. For many decades, Dong Nai Province has been a traditional Province and always at the forefront of industrial development, contributing to the development of the Southeast Region in particular and the country in general. However, the formation and development of Long Thanh International Airport with the advantage of location and strategic connectivity with Provinces in the Southeast region and other dynamic urban areas are creating a new opportunity to promote the strong development of many new fields in Dong Nai, especially the following services
- Logistics associated with airports and placed in the context of regional connectivity are seaport logistics,
- Commercial business, retail, tourism services, especially MICE tourism, world-class sports entertainment services, real estate services, and offices for rent.
The Conference on Human Resources Training for Operating Long Thanh International Airport was organized to prepare and to train human resources for the establishment of Long Thanh International Airport. The conference received valuable comments from leaders of the People's Committees of Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Cam My, and Thong Nhat Districts; leaders of the Southern Airport Authority and Long Thanh Port Authority; leaders of Vietnam Airports Corporation; University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; and leaders of Universities and Colleges in Dong Nai Province.
UEH's presentation was a highlight of the conference as it focused on sharing the ecosystem surrounding Long Thanh International Airport that Dong Nai can focus on to promote sustainable economic growth in the upcoming period. Presenting at the Conference, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai shared, “Long Thanh International Airport will certainly be a major attraction to launch a further expanded economy in business, tourism, entertainment, education, and infrastructure development. To develop Long Thanh International Airport at the right level and according to world trends, developing high-quality human resources has become more urgent than ever. An in-depth education and training system in aviation, logistics, tourism, and business administration is a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the airport economy. In the proposed framework of human resources to operate Long Thanh International Airport, UEH recognizes that 5 areas need to be focused in the upcoming time, specifically: (i) Human resources for the logistics; (ii) Human resources for tourism; (iii) Human resources for and smart city development planning; (iv) Human resources in leadership and economic management; and (v) Human resources for the investment project valuation and appraisal". UEH also commits to accompany the province in related training activities towards developing Long Thanh International Airport in particular and Dong Nai province in general in the upcoming time.

The establishment of Long Thanh Airport and the construction of the airport economy is an opportunity for Dong Nai province to enhance its position on the Vietnamese and international economic map, opening up new directions for socio-economic development, and facilitating a diverse and sustainable business environment. Training human resources to be fast, sensitive, and adaptable to the new context is extremely urgent. With its strengths, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City wishes to expand cooperation and develop specialized programs to train human resources with intensive professional knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the socio-economic development of Dong Nai province in the future.
