UEH Attends the First Annual Meeting of the MICRO4ASIA Project at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia

04 Dec, 2025

On November 27–28, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) participated in the First Annual Meeting of the MICRO4ASIA Project, held at the University of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The meeting gathered partner institutions from Europe, Vietnam, and Laos to review progress after the first 12 months of implementation and to refine the action plan for the next phase.

MICRO4ASIA is an Erasmus+ project that aims to modernize higher education in Vietnam and Laos through the development of micro-credentials—short, flexible learning modules aligned with labor-market needs. The project focuses on developing 36 micro-credentials, strengthening digital-learning capacity, establishing a mutual recognition mechanism, and promoting stronger linkages between higher education and industry. The project runs until 2027. More information is available at https://www.micro4asia.eu/vi/.

Representing UEH at the meeting were:

+ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng Hải Yến – Dean of the School of Banking and Project Leader at UEH;

+ Ms. Cao Ngọc Thủy – Deputy Head of the Monetary Business Division and Project Secretary.

+ The UEH delegation actively participated in discussions, contributed academic input, and presented key reports at the project’s working sessions.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng Hải Yến delivered a comprehensive report on Work Package 3 (WP3): Development of Micro-Credentials, where UEH serves as the lead institution.

As WP3 coordinator, UEH works closely with partner universities in Vietnam and Laos in the following areas:

+ Procurement and installation of equipment for MOOC production;

+ Technical support and training for equipment use;

+ Development of micro-credential course content;

+ Coordination of quality review and pilot testing.

In the first project year, partner institutions completed the preparation of equipment lists, tender procedures, and national bidding documentation. Training sessions on micro-credential development were also conducted to ensure consistent standards in course design and implementation. Technical training, led by the University of Dubrovnik, is scheduled for March 2026.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng Hải Yến emphasized: “Developing micro-credentials requires strong collaboration among partners and continuous academic feedback from EU experts to ensure the learning products meet international standards.”

In addition to WP3 updates, Ms. Cao Ngọc Thủy, UEH Project Secretary, presented key reports on financial management and communication activities.

UEH has ensured full compliance with Erasmus+ financial regulations by consolidating all required supporting documents, monitoring project expenditures, and maintaining transparent internal financial control.

On communication efforts, UEH has published project updates, news articles, and event coverage across official channels, adhering to MICRO4ASIA’s visual identity and Erasmus+ dissemination requirements.

In the second year of implementation, UEH and partner institutions will focus on:

+ Finalizing all 36 micro-credential courses;

+ Implementing the validation plan;

+ Piloting courses with at least 500 students before September 2026;

+ Enhancing MOOC production infrastructure and strengthening digital-teaching capacity.

This marks a significant transition from course design to full operational deployment.

The first annual meeting of the MICRO4ASIA project concluded successfully, providing a comprehensive overview of achievements and challenges in the first project year. UEH’s active participation and leadership in WP3 reaffirm the University’s commitment to contributing to educational innovation, promoting lifelong learning, and strengthening international cooperation.

MICRO4ASIA continues to serve as an important platform for UEH to expand its global partnerships and to further advance its strategy for high-quality, future-ready education.
