UEH Award 2022: A Ceremony Honoring Outstanding UEH Individuals and UEH Units

In 2021, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) obtained proud achievements in the Vietnamese higher education system and marked a milestone on the map of international education, officially transforming with restructuring strategies, forming a Sustainable and Multidisciplinary University. Receiving new opportunities and challenges, UEH team and individuals have unstoppably made efforts to accomplish well all missions and attain proud achievements. With the aim of recognizing these efforts, on the morning of March 30^th, 2022, in Auditorium B1.302 (Campus B), UEH solemnly organized a ceremony to honor excellent individuals and units - UEH Award 2022.

UEH is the first university in Vietnam to pioneer in changing the ways of evaluating the effectiveness of work as well as applying voting for competitions and compliments to reality. Thanks to the result of those changes, in the past few years, competition and compliment tasks at UEH have been motivating all individuals in their process of working and devoting themselves to UEH.

Promoting this spirit, this is the 10^th year UEH has implemented a program for voting and honoring groups and individuals awarded the prizes of the year listed as Unit of the Year, Lecturer of the Year, Manager of the Year, Employee of the Year and an award Excellent Researcher of the Year.

With “The Community of change maker” Theme, UEH Award 2022 hopes to deliver this message: UEHer is not only an internal community but also expects to be a core team that connects related sides having the same desires and wills to acquire sustainably acting targets.

The Honoring Ceremony honorably welcomed the presence of UEH Managers: Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH Council and Competition - Compliment Board, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH, Assoc.Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of Strategy and Policy Advisory Board, Dr. Bui Quang Viet - President of UEH Union, Assoc. Prof. Bui Thanh Trang - Vice Head of UEH College Business, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice Head of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government, Dr. Pham Khanh Nam - Vice Head of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice Head of UEH College Technology and Design as well as the participation of Heads of UEH-affiliated Units, Departments, Directors of curricula, President/ Heads of affiliated-unit unions, lecturers of schools and especially the attendance of lecturers obtaining titles and awards.

From the TOP 10 list of each category, UEH Competition - Compliment Board voted the most outstanding individuals acquiring titles of each honoring category.

The “Lecturer of the Year” title was awarded to Dr. Tran Dang Khoa - Head of Department of Strategic Management - School of Management, with remarkable efforts in accompanying Heads of the School to conduct well digitalization tasks, company cooperation, training, fostering, teaching and perform greatly in terms of union and organizing online learning in the Covid-19 period, has achieved 07 international publications, 2 book chapters, primarily supervising 01 researcher to protect successfully Ph.D Thesis.

The title “Manager of the Year” was awarded to Master Le Thi Hanh An, Department of Marketing and Communication with 2 initiatives in 2021, 01 publication on an international journal, building and deploying a strategy positioning the UEH brand in 2021 – 2025 and the vision to 2030 as well as developing academically (marketing 24 Multichannel Book Series).

With excellent efforts in his tasks appointed by Department of Quality Assurance - Curriculum Development, Mr. Doan Ngoc Hau was awarded the title “Employee of the Year”.

The title “Excellent Researcher of the Year” was awarded to Dr. Nguyen Phuc Canh - Lecturer at School of Public Finance with inclusive published academic products.

Besides, the prize “Unit of the Year” was awarded to the groups of Department of Information and Technology and School of Economics.

In 2021, the UEH team was honorably awarded the First-class Independence Medal and the Government Competition Flag due to the excellent achievements of the academic year. To attain those achievements, lecturers, officials, and employees have shown untiring dedication to the development process of UEH. Within the framework of the program, UEH has honored lecturers awarded noble prizes by the Minister of Education and Training (MOET).

Delivering a speech to congratulate lecturers on their titles and prizes in 2021, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh shared: “On behalf of Managers of UEH, I, once again, do gratitude and recognize your contributions and congratulate units and individuals honored today and lecturers awarded noble governmental and party prizes on their achievements. In 2021, we underwent a difficult time due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic; however, afterward, UEH acquired honorable targets creating a foundation for the development targets of UEH in the upcoming time. Achieved results were the efforts of all UEHers containing the groups of lecturers and officials honored today. In the future, our UEH will aim at a higher evolving step with challenging targets, therefore, we have to make efforts to improve our position in reputable international university rankings towards matching the development and excellent research orientation of UEH as well as promoting internationalizing completely all operating activities. I do hope we will discover more outstanding units, lecturers, and officials who are innovative, ready to think, and brave to do to initiate a sustainable development foundation for UEH.”

On the journey toward a Sustainable and Multidisciplinary University, the visions, missions, and core values that UEH is pursuing are impossibly achievable within days but require efforts and bravery to pioneer and make changes from each individual of UEH to, therefore, spread and form a community leading changes for a sustainable future of UEH in particular and society in general.
