UEH Awards 2024: Ceremony Honoring Outstanding UEH Individuals and Affiliations

University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has gone through a development journey of nearly 50 years with proud achievements in training, research, management and social responsibility, and has become one of the 7 multi-disciplinary universities in Vietnam. This is a journey that requires pioneering and constant efforts from each UEH individual and team. In recognition of these great contributions, therefore, on the morning of April 24, 2024, at Hall B1.302 (Campus B), UEH solemnly held a ceremony to honor UEH individuals and affiliations that achieved Titles and Awards in 2023.

The UEH Awards 2024 with the theme "The Community of change makers" was organized to honor outstanding groups and individuals who have contributed to changes for the sustainable future of UEH in particular and of society. This year, UEH Awards was officially held with meaningful titles in 03 groups teaching, management and staff, including Unit of the Year; Lecturer of the Year; Manager of the Year; Staff of the Year; and "Outstanding Scientific Research of the Year ".

The Honoring Ceremony was pleased to welcome the participation of UEH leaders: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council, Chairman of the UEH Emulation and Commendation Council; Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - University Director; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Deputy Director of the University; Assoc.Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of the University; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Deputy Director of the University; Assoc.Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the UEH Policy and Strategy Advisory Council, and the participation of the Board of Directors of UEH member colleges: the Standing Committee of the Union, the Standing Committee of the Youth Union - Student Association; Head/Deputy Head of affiliated units; Head/Deputy Head of Departments, Program Directors; President/Head of unions of affiliated units; lecturers of all units; and especially the presence of lecturers who won titles and awards in 2023.

From the TOP 10 list of each category, the UEH Emulation and Commendation Council voted for the best individual to win the title of each category, in which:

The title "Lecturer of the Year" was awarded to Assoc.Prof. Pham Thi Kien - Deputy Head of the Department of Marxism-Leninism, School of Politics with outstanding efforts in working with faculty leaders to well implement digital transformation, business cooperation, training, lecturing; individually participating in review for 4 domestic and international journals; successfully supervising 3 masters; delivering keynote speeches at the Academy of Journalism and Communications Conference; publishing 12 research projects domestically and internationally; and achieving the title of Associate Professor in 2023.

The title "Manager of the Year" was awarded to Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting with efforts to promote the image of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting to localities and businesses; carrying out the journey of spreading knowledge in the fields of finance - accounting, communication and internal control; completing the goals of the thesis to be published internationally in prestigious journals in the SSCI/Scopus; and successfully defending his PhD thesis in 2023.

With excellent efforts in working at the Department of Quality Assurance - Program Development, improving learner survey plans, participating in supporting academic activities and movements of UEH students, and having many contributions to UEH Union, Ms. Tran Thanh Tam was elected to be awarded the title "Employee of the Year".

With a lot of research projects published, Dr. Nguyen Phuc Canh - Lecturer of the School of Public Finance - was elected by the UEH Emulation and Commendation Council to be awarded "Scientific Research of the Year".

Besides, with the outstanding achievements in the past year, "Unit of the Year" was awarded to the Office of the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; Institute of Innovation, UEH College of Technology and Design and Institute of Regional Development Research and Consulting.

2023 is the year that witnessed outstanding achievements and the official transformation of UEH into a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University. The collective unit that has excellently received the Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training was the Department of Continuing Education (now the Department of Training) and the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies.

With constant efforts and great dedication to the cause of education, lecturers excellently won the title of Ministry-level Emulation Soldiers in the previous year including Assoc.Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director of UEH; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies and Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh - Director of the Institute of Business Research.
