UEH Ceremony for the Announcement and Appointment of the 2024 Professors and Associate Professors

On January 6th, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly organized a ceremony to announce and award decisions to appoint the title of Professors and Associate Professors for 11 individuals in 2024, including 10 UEH lecturers and a visiting lecturer.

Through the reviewing process based on the standards for Professor and Associate Professor titles in 2024 of the Councils at institutional, field, and national levels, on November 19th, 2024, the Chairman of the State Council for Professor signed Decision No. 89, officially recognizing the achievement of the required standards for 45 Professors and 569 Associate Professors.

In accordance with the current regulations, the demand to strengthen faculty with high academic qualifications and expertise in specialized fields, in alignment with the development goals of UEH in the new phase, the university announced an open call to attract qualified individuals to apply for the Professor and Associate Professor titles. After the application process and thorough consideration, based on the results of the Council, the UEH’s President signed decisions to appoint the titles of Professor and Associate Professor for 11 lecturers.

To honor and recognize the efforts of newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors, the announcement and award ceremony on January 6th, 2025 witnessed the attendance of the following distinguished guests: Professor Nguyen Dong Phong, Chairman of the University Council and Chairman of the UEH 2024 Professor Council; Professor Su Dinh Thanh, President of UEH; Associate Professor Phan Thi Bich Nguyet, Chairwoman of UEH Advisory Council, Director of Institute of Innovation; Associate Professor Bui Quang Hung, Vice President of UEH; Professor Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, Vice President of UEH; Doctor Dinh Cong Khai, Vice President of UEH; Doctor Nguyen Thien Duy, Chairman of the Trade Union, Head of Office for Communist Party and Organization; Distinguished faculty members from UEH's constituent schools; Members of the UEH Professor Council; Professors, Associate Professors, and academic leaders from UEH; Program directors, staff, as well as the families of the newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors, all of whom attended to congratulate and celebrate this special occasion.

At the ceremony, UEH honored the newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors, including 10 esteemed faculty members who are full-time lecturers and 1 faculty member who is currently serving as a visiting lecturer at UEH:

On behalf of the newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh expressed sincere gratitude to the Academic Council, the Board of Directors of UEH University, and colleagues at the UEH College of Technology and Design, as well as the Institute of Intelligent & Interactive Technologies. He shared: “Being appointed as a Professor is not only an honor but also a reminder of greater responsibility in the fields of education and scientific research. As a lecturer, I understand that this academic title is not just about teaching and researching, but also requires dedication to lead teaching activities, research, scientific advisory, and contribute to the development of the specialized field and society as a whole. As one of the 10 Associate Professors receiving the academic title, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Hai Yen affirmed that this is an important milestone marking the professional growth and development of the faculty members. It serves as motivation for each lecturer to continue striving for the noble mission of nurturing future generations at UEH. On this occasion, she also expressed her deepest gratitude to the Councils at different levels, as well as to the faculty and staff of various departments and offices at UEH for their support throughout the journey of 11 newly appointed Professors and Associate Professors.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, Chairman of the University Council and Chairman of the UEH 2024 Professor Council congratulated and assigned tasks for all Professors and Associate Professors. He emphasized: “I sincerely congratulate on the proud achievement of a new Professor and 10 new Associate Professors of UEH. I firmly believe that with the new roles, they will contribute more to teaching, research, international publications, participation in conferences, and continue to dedicate themselves to UEH and society development. Furthermore, UEH also hopes to encourage and motivate our Ph.D. holders to strive towards achieving the title of Associate Professor. This is not only the responsibility of each individual but also a mission and pride of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. The University and the leadership of the departments and divisions will create favorable conditions and support for our esteemed faculty to enhance their capabilities and personal development, thereby helping UEH to grow sustainably."
