UEH College of Technology and Design Signed a Memorandum of Agreement with ABB Automation and Electrification (Vietnam)

Within the framework of the 2^nd International Conference on “Resilience by Technology and Design – RTD 2024” with the theme “Fostering Sustainability” on July 15, 2024, UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD), a member of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), officially signed a strategic Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with ABB Automation and Electrification Vietnam, marking a new step in the cooperation between the two sides, with the goal of jointly moving towards sustainable development.

Attending the signing ceremony, on behalf of ABB Automation and Electrification Vietnam (ABB Vietnam), there were Mr. Tran An Khang - Director of Robotics and Factory Automation Department, Mr. Dang Xuan Hong - Head of Technical Solution Consulting Department, and Mr. Nguyen Minh Toan - Chief Engineer.

On behalf of the UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD), there were Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Principal of the UEH College of Technology and Design, and Director of the Center for Technology and Design Training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh - Director of the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology, together with lecturers of the Institute of Intellifgent and Interactive Technology.

Overview of the signing ceremony

ABB Vietnam, a subsidiary of ABB Group - a Swiss multinational corporation, is a reliable partner in the field of electrical and automation technology and robotics, providing solutions and services for industry in Vietnam. Being the representative of ABB Vietnam, Mr. Tran An Khang - Director of Robotics and Factory Automation Department - remarked: “ABB has the strength of the most advanced Robotic automation technology, therefore, the company is ready to update the trend from practical production needs to invest in engineering resources and support the training and education at universities. The goal of the company and the school is to coordinate and to train potential, quality human resources for the future, closely meeting the needs of the labor market and creating conditions for students to have the opportunity to research, to practice, and to expand their employment opportunities."

In addition, ABB Vietnam will sponsor the UEH College of Technology and Design with a demo Robot station serving the teaching and learning of the school, Robot Studio simulation software for 1 server and 100 clients for students to practice. In addition, ABB will send experts to train and to share experiences about Robots with the staff, lecturers and students of the school and sponsor scholarships as well as to create conditions for the students to participate in internships at ABB Company.

The success of the signing ceremony between UEH College of Technology and Design and ABB Automation and Electrification Vietnam has marked an important milestone in the cooperation between the two sides, demonstrating the continuous efforts of UEH in general and CTD in particular in expanding the network of domestic and international partners, thereby, improving the quality of education and research, equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become global citizens in the modern world.
