UEH Conducts Nomination Process for Candidate for the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (2026-2031 Term)

On January 22, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) conducted the nomination process for a candidate for the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (2026–2031 term). The process was carried out in accordance with all prescribed procedures, ensuring democracy, transparency, and achieving a high consensus among UEH's leadership, faculty, and staff.

Attending the conferences were: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – UEH Party Committee Secretary; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Interim President; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – UEH Advisory Council Chairman; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – UEH Science and Training Council Chairman; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – UEH Alumni Chairwoman; Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy – Chairman of the UEH Trade Union; along with leaders of member colleges, departments, schools, and institutes, and other delegates as planned.

In accordance with the regulations of the Central Government and the City on the consultation and nomination of candidates for the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, and based on the resolutions and guidelines of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, and the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, UEH implemented a three-step nomination process:

Step 1: Meeting of the UEH Board of Management to discuss the approved plan for the nomination process. The leadership team reviewed and agreed upon the structure, composition, and number of candidates to be nominated, and disseminated the standards, conditions, and procedures.

Step 2: A workplace constituent conference was held to gather comments, evaluations, and a vote of confidence from the constituent body for Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – UEH Party Committee Secretary, the nominated candidate for the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council. The results were tallied and officially recorded in accordance with regulations.

Step 3: An expanded meeting of the UEH Board of Management was convened to review, assess, and finalize the nomination based on the results of the constituent conference.

During the constituent conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao expressed his honor and gratitude to the leadership and voters for their trust in nominating him as a candidate. He also affirmed his spirit of responsibility and readiness to contribute his intellect, professional experience, and research findings to the overall development of Ho Chi Minh City and the nation.

The results showed that 100% of the present delegates unanimously nominated Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao as a candidate for the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (2026-2031 term), demonstrating the high consensus of UEH's leadership, faculty, and staff.

Following the series of conferences, the University promptly completed the nomination dossier in accordance with all regulations and deadlines to ensure timely submission to the relevant authorities. This action materializes UEH's commitment to translating scientific knowledge into policy practice and contributing experts to promote modern public governance. It also affirms the position of a key university that consistently pioneers in creating positive and sustainable values for the development of the City.
