UEH cooperating with Vinh Long Department of Education and Training to organize UEH RoboCon Contest 2023 - UEH Dancing Robot Contest and Closing the STEM training course for teachers and students in Vinh Long Province in 2023

On April 1, 2023, at UEH Vinh Long Campus, UEH cooperated with Vinh Long Department of Education and Training to organize RoboCon UEH 2023 - UEH Dancing Robot Contest and the closing of the "STEM Teaching training course” for teachers and high school students in Vinh Long Province in 2023.

Attending the Contest and Closing Ceremony of the training course, from University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), there was the participation of Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH cum Director of Vinh Long Campus (VLC) - Head of the Contest Organizing Committee; MSc. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu - Standing Deputy Director - UEH VLC; MSc. Ho Thien Quyen - Deputy Director of VLC; MSc. Nguyen Duc Vinh - Deputy Director of VLC; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh - Director, Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology; Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Dean of UEH School of Information Technology for Business, UEH College of Technology and Design; MSc. Tran Nhat Hoang - Deputy Secretary of UEH Youth Union, President of UEH Student Association, in charge of the Mekong Incubator, along with UEH Lecturers as teaching experts of UEH Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology as well as Leaders of the Departments, Centers, and Schools at VLC.

On behalf of Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, there was the presence of Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan - Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Khoa - Deputy Head of Secondary Education and Continuing Education Department, Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province; Dr. Dang Phuc Hung - Head of Scientific Management Department - Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long Province and Leaders of Departments of Education and Training of Districts/Towns/Cities in Vinh Long Province.

The UEH Robocon Contest 2023 – The UEH Dancing Robot Contest has 34 competing teams of 103 teachers and 83 students from high schools, junior high schools and teachers of the Education and Training Departments with 34 cute robots competing through different rounds. The group stage is based on the music chosen by the Organizing Committee and by the teams selected in accordance with the regulations of each round. The contest absolutely attracts and arouses passion and creativity in each teacher and studen;thereby, evoking and raising awareness to explore, learn, and perform well in teaching and learning tasks, and most especially promoting STEM education activities in schools.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the “STEM Teaching” training program and awarding prizes of the Robocon Contest 2023 - UEH Dancing Robot Contest, Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH - emphasized: “With this program, through the results of summarizing and the results of the activities of each topic, it clearly shows the enthusiasm that UEH wishes to implement and the mission that UEH has committed to the Ministry of Education and Training and to Vinh Long Province when establishing UEH Branch in Vinh Long Province to train high-quality human resources to meet the human resource needs of Vinh Long Province in particular, and the Mekong Delta in general. With UEH Global Community Project, the activities that UEH implements refer to the social responsibility of a national key university, UEH will accompany the country’s education system and its leaders and lecturers. What UEH approaches from developed countries in the world will be researched to select and deploy to the community, hopefully with the efforts of the teachers/lecturers, the dynamism and curiosity of the students with the companionship of UEH as well as some other universities, lecturers and students will have the best support in teaching and learning activities. “UEH Global Community Project” with activities implemented since 2020, has received the attention of teachers and students in provinces/cities according to year-by-year activities listed as online teaching; Compiling online lectures; Testing and evaluation tools; college preparation online test tools; personality self-discovery test tool to assist in choosing the right career and so on.In 2023, with the launch of the "STEM Teaching" activity in Vinh Long Province, the program was greatly successful and will continue to be replicated and deployed in other Provinces in the Mekong Delta in general and additional Provinces in the country. In the upcoming time, UEH will continue to implement and to accompany the education system with the next programs and projects. UEH hopes that the leaders of the education system will continue to pay attention and cooperate, all lecturers will continue to make efforts and try to receive and implement effectively in your educational institutions”.

On behalf of the coordinating organization, Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan, Deputy Director of Vinh Long Provincial Department of Education and Training, stated: “Although the time to organize the training course is limited, all units and teams have tried very hard in studying and participated in UEH Robocon Contest with promising results. The results of the program exceeded our expectations; The aim of the competition is to find the teams with high results; nevertheless, the biggest benefit of this STEM contest and training course is the knowledge of designing and programming robots, and the thinking and creative skills that the reporters at UEH Institutes of Intelligent and Interactive Technology provided the trainees. We hope that teachers, lecturers and students will make good use of that knowledge and skills to continue researching, organizing and implementing solutions as well as having solutions to promote and organize teaching to bring STEM education into schools effectively, contributing to improving the education quality of the Province".

The training program ended, leaving unforgettable impressions, cultivating and promoting passion and creating great motivation for each teacher and student. The variety of opinions exchanged and shared by teachers and students during the course show the joy and excitement of teachers, lecturers and students upon accessing the training program.

At the end of the training course, the Organizing Committee awarded UEH’s authenticated electronic certificates to 186 participants. At the Closing Ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented certificates of merit and rewards to the winning teams of the UEH Robocon 2023 - The UEH Dancing Robot Contest.
