UEH Council (2025-2030 Term) Holds its 2nd Meeting: Reaching Consensus on Organizational Consolidation and the Implementation of Strategic Proposals

On the afternoon of August 20, 2025, at Meeting Room A.205, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) Council for the 2025-2030 term held its 2nd meeting to reach consensus on and pass several important strategic matters, aiming to ensure the sustainable development of UEH in the new period.

An overview of the meeting.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Chairman of UEH Council, affirmed the urgency of the meeting in completing the organizational structure and consolidating the personnel of UEH for the new term. He also emphasized the Council's role in setting the strategic development direction and implementing key plans toward the University's sustainable development goals. In that spirit, he expressed his hope that members would actively contribute their opinions to unify the key contents, guiding UEH's development in line with its established strategy.

At the meeting, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, the Council officially passed the decisions issued by the Minister of Education and Training on the recognition of the 27-member University Council and the Chairman of the University Council for the 2025-2030 term. Concurrently, the members introduced and reached a consensus on the nomination for the Secretary of the Council and the list for the Council's Standing Committee for the new term.

One of the central topics of the meeting was to approve the policy and plan for the appointment process of the UEH President and Vice Presidents for the 2025-2030 term. The Council also agreed to extend the term of the UEH President for the 2020-2025 term until a decision recognizing the President for the 2025-2030 term is issued.

The Council also approved the continued use of the Regulations issued by the University Council of the 2020-2025 term until the new Council issues replacements, including:

1. Regulation on the Organization and Operation of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

2. Regulation on the Organization and Operation of the UEH - Vinh Long Campus

3. Regulation on the Implementation of Grassroots Democracy at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

4. Financial Regulation of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

5. Regulation on the Authority, Order, and Procedures for the Implementation and Management of Investment Projects of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (2020-2025 term)

6. Regulation on the Recruitment of Employees of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

7. Regulation on the Recruitment of Public Employees of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

8. Regulation on the Appointment, Re-appointment, Extension of Term, Resignation, and Dismissal for Public Employees and Employees in Managerial Positions under the Appointing Authority of the President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

In addition, the meeting reviewed and voted on the proposal to invest in the Web of Science database to serve scientific research and international integration, and the proposal to establish the International Institute of Science under UEH.

The recognition of the University Council and its Chairman is a crucial consolidation step in the organizational and governance structure, in line with the spirit of autonomy, innovation, and sustainable development of Vietnamese higher education in the new era. Based on practical governance experience, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Council for the 2025-2030 term will continue to exercise its leadership role, setting directions and passing strategic decisions that serve as a foundation for the Board of Management to execute operations effectively. With a serious working spirit and many valuable contributions, the 2nd meeting of the University Council for the 2025-2030 term concluded successfully, with high consensus among members on many important issues.

Entering the next stage of development, with a leadership structure that has been and is being consolidated, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will continue to leverage its internal strengths and develop robustly, accelerating the realization of its new goal: "To become a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, ranked among the top universities in Asia in the 2030-2045 period."
