[UEH EngContest 2024] Proud of UEH - Multidisciplinary and Sustainable

17 Feb, 2025

The English Creative Contest Series “Proud of UEH - Multidisciplinary and Sustainable” (UEH EngContest 2024) is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the English proficiency of the UEHer community while aligning with UEH’s strategic development goals for the 2025-2030 period. The contest combines writing, speaking, and artistic creativity - through essays, posters, podcasts, and videos - offering a diverse platform for UEHers to express their talents. This is a unique opportunity for UEHers to make their voices heard, spread sustainable values, and affirm UEH’s position as a pioneering university in education, the arts, and community development.

During the past few years, UEH has implemented numerous sustainability projects of a greatly practical level for its community: from energy-saving campaigns to plastic waste reductions. These initiatives highlight how sustainability has become much more than mere theory - it is practiced to the benefit of both students and employees. Sustainability has turned into a normal way of life at UEH and turned into a culture of conscious responsible behavior. Every work is real worthy, and the deal between the teacher and then the student is important in every initiative. This is not something that is said but done and has a real impact on the entire community.

One of the most important impacts of these projects is the awareness they give birth to. Sustainable activities such as "Zero Waste Day" or the "Green Campus" program not only inform the community about environmental issues but also set into motion actual action on their part. From small everyday changes, like cutting down on single-use plastics to bigger collective efforts, like organizing sustainability workshops, allows UEHers to be ones who are responsible and are actively participating in protecting the environment. With each program and activity, we have raised the awareness of every individual. Out of this awareness, specific actions have been taken. Each action has been done by each UEH member and spread its positive influence to the community and society.

Every sustainable initiative adds its own value to the mission at large toward a greener university. Some focus more on environmental education while others take a step towards infrastructure improvements, such as energy-efficient lighting or waste sorting systems. Regardless of how big or small the projects may be, the aim is constant: to improve the quality of life on campus and implant a sustainable mindset in students as they move on in their lives after graduation. Different values are brought by each project and activity. But above all, it is about achieving the goals of UEH, which are to foster innovation, promote sustainable development, and empower students for a successful future.

There is a great pride that comes with knowing we are part of this transformation. We, UEHers, not only gain academic knowledge but also create something far bigger: a global movement toward sustainability. Working on these projects makes us proud to be part of a university that truly prioritizes social responsibility and environmental stewardship. We feel proud to be part of a community that actively participates in shaping a better world in a more sustainable way.

This is what gives us hope for the future: these projects light up the path to a time when students and graduates from UEH will become leaders in sustainability, applying what they learn in class to their professional and personal lives. The changes we make today give reason to hope for a brighter, greener tomorrow-not just at UEH, but for society at large. We strongly believe that the seeds being planted in the way of sustainability will grow and bloom, leaving behind a lasting legacy long after today.

These sustainable projects add a lot of value to the community in general, improving not only the living environment around the campus but also creating a culture of awareness and action. Each of them provides a distinct place for raising pride and a sense of hope for every member of the UEH community. We are creating a sustainable future together that goes beyond campus boundaries.
