UEH expands admission and recruitment opportunities for disadvantaged groups: Building a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

To promote diversity and inclusion in the educational environment, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is implementing special admission and recruitment plans targeting disadvantaged groups in society, creating favorable conditions and equal opportunities for all students, staff, and employees. This is a step forward in building a diverse workforce and a strong commitment of UEH to contribute to creating a comprehensive learning and working environment that best meets the development needs of modern society.

Expanding recruitment opportunities for vulnerable groups

Civil servants are Vietnamese citizens recruited to specific positions and work at public service units under labor contracts, receiving salaries from the salary fund of public service units according to the provisions of law. The recruitment subjects are candidates who need to apply for positions announced by UEH (through UEH's periodic recruitment notices). All regulations and procedures are based on: the law on Civil Servants; Decree No. 115/2020/ND-CP dated September 25, 2020, of the Government on recruitment, use, and management of civil servants; and UEH's Civil Servants Recruitment Regulations. UEH gives priority to disadvantageous groups in the recruitment process through either examination or selection, specifically:

  • Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor, wounded soldiers, individuals benefiting from policies similar to wounded soldiers, and Category B wounded soldiers: These candidates will be granted an additional 7.5 points to their score in Round 2.
  • Ethnic minorities, military officers, police officers, professional soldiers who have completed their service, individuals in cryptography work transitioning to other sectors, trainees who have completed officer reserve training, graduates from military command training for district military commanders, individuals who have been promoted to reserve officer ranks and registered for reserve officer positions, children of martyrs, children of wounded soldiers, children of war invalids, children of individuals benefiting from policies similar to wounded soldiers, children of Category B wounded soldiers, biological children of individuals affected by chemical warfare during the resistance, children of Heroes of the Armed Forces, children of Heroes of Labor: These candidates will be granted an additional 5 points to their score in Round 2.
  • Individuals who have completed military or police service or were members of the youth volunteer teams: These candidates will be granted an additional 2.5 points to their score in Round 2.

In case a candidate applies for admission or recruitment under multiple priority levels in Round 1, only the highest priority score will be added to the Round 2 selection result.

The program “From EXCELLENT UEH STUDENT to EXCELLENT COLLEAGUE” is being implemented at UEH - Vinh Long Campus for the 2022-2025 period. The program aims to identify outstanding UEH graduates, with a focus on those from the Mekong Delta region, who want to become educators and wish to contribute to the long-term development of UEH - Vinh Long Campus. In 2023, UEH selected the best candidates to join the staff at UEH - Vinh Long Campus. These recruited public employees enjoy several benefits reserved for excellent graduates when they become staff members at UEH - Vinh Long Campus, including A full scholarship (100% of tuition fees) for the Master's degree program under the Vietnam-Netherlands (VNP) - UEH program or certain other Master's programs offered by the International School of Business (ISB) - UEH (excluding programs with overseas transfer options), or equivalent Master's degree programs at UEH. Housing support for the first year of work at the Vinh Long Campus for public employees whose permanent residence is outside Vinh Long province. Additional income and other support policies according to the internal expenditure regulations of the Vinh Long Campus.

Priority Admission Policy

The regulations on university admissions at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) (issued under Decision No. 584/QD-DHKT-DT dated February 2, 2023, by the President of UEH)  the principles, target groups, and conditions for university-level admissions for various training formats. The regulations specify the process and guidelines for organizing admissions for regular university programs, university programs for working students, admission by request, and university-level transfer admissions. They also define the structure, responsibilities, and powers of the committees involved in the admissions process. These regulations apply to departments, faculties, institutes, organizations, and candidates participating in university admissions for programs where UEH awards degrees. All specific details are clearly outlined at [link]. Priority Admission Policy at UEH applies to candidates from priority regions and groups, as listed in Sections 7 and 8 of the regulations. Specifically:

Priority by Region:

  • Candidates from Region 1 (KV1) will receive an additional 0.75 points.
  • Candidates from Region 2 rural areas (KV2-NT) will receive an additional 0.5 points.
  • Candidates from Region 2 (KV2) will receive an additional 0.25 points.
  • Candidates from Region 3 (KV3) will not receive any additional points.
  • Students from disadvantaged areas, remote regions, or military personnel stationed for 18 months or more in priority regions are also eligible for special regional advantages in the admission process.

Priority by Policy Group:

  • A 2-point priority is granted to candidates in Group UT1 (special policy group).
  • A 1-point priority is granted to candidates in Group UT2 (other priority groups), as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training.
  • For candidates who score 22.5 points or above, the priority points will decrease gradually according to a specific calculation formula to ensure fairness.
  • Eligible Groups for Direct Admission or Priority Admission to UEH:

Direct Admission:

  • Heroes of Labor, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, and National Emulation Fighters.
  • Candidates who have won high awards in national or international competitions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or other state agencies. These candidates will be directly admitted to programs relevant to the subjects or content of the awards they have received.

Priority Admission:

  • Candidates with severe disabilities who have official certification and meet the health requirements and academic standards of the chosen program.
  • Candidates from ethnic minorities with very small populations or from disadvantaged border or island areas, provided they have demonstrated excellent academic performance throughout their high school education.
  • Foreign candidates with proficiency in Vietnamese will be considered for admission based on their high school academic results and Vietnamese language proficiency evaluation.

The priority admission policy ensures the protection of rights and encourages candidates with talent and special circumstances, offering opportunities for equal access to high-quality education at UEH.
