UEH Implementing Financial Aid Programs for Students in Northern Provinces Affected by Storm No. 3 (YAGI) in 2024

In order to share and to accompany the difficulties of students affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi storm) and the flood caused by the storm, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has implemented "Financial Aidp" and "Tuition Payment Extension" programs to support students in the Northern Provinces affected by storm No. 3 in 2024.

 

UEH will award 100 scholarships, each worth VND 10,000,000 to disadvantaged students of cohorts 47, 48, 49 and 50 with permanent residence in 26 northern localities directly affected by storm No. 3 in 2024, including Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc and Thanh Hoa.

Requirements for scholarship application include:

  • Students with especially difficult family circumstances because of  the impact of storms and floods;
  • Students have not received 01 scholarship of equivalent value and UEH's flood and natural disaster supported scholarship yet;
  • Students are not subject to disciplinary action at the level of reprimand or above during the applying semester.

Students need to complete the application form and to register online at the UEH Student website ( https://student.ueh.edu.vn/) from September 12 to 25, 2024, and to submit the application to the Department of Student Affairs at Campus B - Room B1.111 - UEH Nguyen Tri Phuong from September 26 to 30, 2024 to be considered for the Scholarship.

In addition, to support all students and families in the 26 Provinces and Cities above to reduce financial pressure during the current difficult time, UEH extended the tuition payment deadline for the first semester of 2025 to January 15, 2025.

Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH - remarked: “The recent storm No. 3 has left extremely serious consequences for the Northern Provinces. Understanding and sharing the difficulties with students and families in localities affected by natural disasters and floods, UEH has implemented the financial aid program to support and to extend tuition payment time to encourage and to motivate students during this difficult period with the hope that UEH students will strive to overcome difficulties and complete their study plan well. The journey to conquer knowledge for anyone is an extremely valuable journey with many challenges and ambitions. With its continuous efforts, UEH will always accompany students so that no one is left behind, all opportunities to experience the value of knowledge are given fairly to each individual at UEH”.

In addition to the programs of accompanying and supporting learners, and promoting the tradition of "Mutual love and affection" with the spirit of "understanding, sympathy, sharing", the Party Committee, Board of Management and UEH Union have called on all UEH officials and employees to join hands to support, at least 1 day's salary, according to the regulations to support people in the Northern Provinces and Cities to quickly overcome the damage caused by storms and floods, helping people restore production and stabilize their lives.
