In the afternoon of October 26, 2023, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and The University of Western Australia (UWA) took place successfully.

The University of  Western Australia is one of the leading universities in Australia and internationally recognized for its exceptional quality of education, research, and training.

Attending the Signing Ceremony, on UWA’s side there were the presnce of Mr. Dave Connell - Associate Director, Global Engagement, UWA; Mrs. Hannah Vu - Global Engagement Manager, UWA; Ms. Trinh Trịnh - Business Development Manager, Austrade Vietnam.

On behalf of the University of  Economics Ho Chi Minh City, there were the presence of Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Tran Ha Minh Quan - Executive Dean Of UEH International School of Business; Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Phong Nguyen - Head of Department of Research Management International Cooperation.

Cooperation with Go8 University in Australia

The signing ceremony took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia. Therefore, the event is a significant milestone, marking the long-term collaboration between the University of Western Australia and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.

To kick off the signing ceremony, Prof.Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with the University of Western Australia, one of the top 8 universities in Australia. Prof.Su Dinh Thanh stated that with the advantages of a leading university, the University of Western Australia would be an ideal destination for Vietnamese students to study abroad.

"The University of Western Australia is always seeking partnerships with leading educational institutions in the Vietnamese market. This strategic collaboration with UEH is a significant step that opens up many study abroad opportunities specifically for Vietnamese students," said Ms. Hannah Vu - Global Engagement Manager at the University of Western Australia, during the ceremony.

Mr. Dave Connell - Associate Director, Global Engagement at the University of Western Australia, also shared that there are over 6.000 international students studying at their university, with Vietnam being one of their important Asian partners. Additionally, the University of Western Australia aims to strengthen and deepen the collaboration in a sustainable and robust manner, with the aspiration of achieving outstanding achievements in the future.

Optimising studying abroad with Global Pathways

At the ceremony, the both parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement to optimise the study abroad change for Vietnamese students.

Global Pathways is a direct-entry program for Bachelor’s degree designed by top 1% universities, with main study abroad models Global Pathways: 1-2 years studying at UEH-ISB, 1-2 years of study and degree attainment at top universities in the world.

The University of Western Australia consistently ranks among the world’s best tertiary institutions, ranking in the world’s top-72 universities (according to QS World University Rankings, 2024) and is a member of the Go8 group, which consists of the leading universities in Australia. UWA offers 43 disciplines that are ranked in the top 1% globally for education quality (according to ARWU and QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2022). Additionally, The University of Western Australia holds the top position in the state of Western Australia for graduate employability rates (according to QS Graduate Employability Ranking, 2022).

This cooperation will provide Vietnamese students with  more options for majors and models when studying in Australia in the future.
