UEH Institute of Innovation (UII) being ranked in the Top 10 Best Innovation Startup Support Organizations in Southeast Asia

Recently, the Institute of Innovation (UII) under UEH - The only university-affiliated incubator in Vietnam has been recognized as one of the Ten Best Startup Support Organizations in Southeast Asia (AsiaStar 10x10 Launchpad) at the AsiaStar 10x10 Program of the Asia Forward Project within the framework of the Apsara International Conference in Singapore.

 

AsiaStar 10x10 recognizes 100 companies, communities and projects that have made meaningful changes to Southeast Asia in recent years with 10 nomination categories: Trailblazers, Gamechangers, Growth, Enablers, Explorers, Open Source, Frontiers, Impact, Investors, Launchpad. Individuals and organizations are considered for many factors such as uniqueness, development potential, social influence and especially meaningful impact on Southeast Asian technology from July 2021 to June 2022. They were selected from a shortlist of nominations from representatives of government agencies, investors, industry experts, Alibaba Cloud representatives, media agencies, and the companionship of more than 20 international organizations. 

 

 

The Institute of Innovation (UII) affiliated to UEH - The only University incubator in Vietnam recognized as one of the Ten Best Startup Support Organizations in Southeast Asia (AsiaStar 10x10 Launchpad). This category honors educational institutions, start-up incubators and startup accelerators that have provided a safe environment to nurture good start-up companies/projects, providing opportunities for entrepreneurs to cultivate ideas and business acumen before they go to market. The AsiaStar 10x10 Launchpad Award is a testament to the continuous efforts and creativity of the UEH Institute of Innovation in developing an international standard incubation program, helping Vietnamese projects/start-up companies develop sustainably and access to world markets.

During the 3-year development journey, the Institute has organized more than 60 professional seminars on entrepreneurship and innovation for businesses, built training courses with more than 500 participants, and participated in various activities developing the science and technology market in Ho Chi Minh City. The incubation program has had 7 rounds of selection and support with more than 120 startups in many different fields, including non-profit organizations, social enterprises at the main campus and Vinh Long Campus. Startups participating in the selection round not only operate within Ho Chi Minh City but also come from many provinces across the country listed as Hanoi, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Nam Dinh and even abroad. The startup ecosystem at the incubator is diverse with many startup fields ranging from education, art, media, manufacturing to agriculture, health, and entertainment. The incubator has been increasingly reaching out to potential startups, making a wide impact and becoming a trusted place in the startup community. Each activity and program here is associated with practice, helping to inspire and spread thoughts and views about Innovation not only in the student community, startups, businesses but also impact to society in general.

 

 

Mekong Incubator for innovative startups training

 

With the goal of improving the quality of operations, attracting international human resources to participate in research and knowledge exchange activities, the Institute of Innovation has expanded the program of connection and exchange of startup projects for international students interested in starting a business to work with the Vietnamese startup community. The Institute together with SEPT Competence Center - Leipzig University (Germany) organize an exchange and supports Startups from Germany with the program "International Startup Campus (ISC Vietnam)". Through this activity, startups from Germany had the opportunity to learn the startup ecosystem in Vietnam while working at the dynamic Co-working Space located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The first Global Innovation Immersion (GII) program to exchange international trainees was launched at UII with a partner SMU. The interns have participated in implementing practical projects of the Institute, and also worked directly with startups at UII Innovation Startup Incubator, as well as projects on market research and development. business. This is an opportunity for international students to learn about the innovative startup environment, business environment and culture in Vietnam.

 

 

International Startup Campus Program (ISC Vietnam)

 

UEH Institute of Innovation is also the first unit to develop the first formal University-level training program in Technology and Innovation in the country. The learning program helps students grasp new technologies listed as artificial intelligence, machine learning, human-computer interaction (Human-Computer Interaction),... and trains students to think creatively right away from freshman year. At the Institute of Innovation, students and the startup community are both encouraged and given the opportunity to explore and apply technology tools and adapt to technological change. UEH Biztech Hackathon is an initiative of the Institute of Innovation to connect students in economics, technology and engineering to solve social problems with technological solutions and digital transformation.

The Institute of Innovation’s training, incubation, research, consulting and knowledge transfer activities have created many values and social impacts for the startup community and UEH students. The Institute of Innovation incubator is currently the most active university incubator in Vietnam and affects more than 30,000 UEH students, young entrepreneurs in Vietnam. The AsiaStar 10x10 Launchpad award will be the driving force for the Institute of Innovation to continue to grow strongly, becoming a startup and innovation hub not only in Vietnam but also in Southeast Asia and Asia. The startup ecosystem at UEH will be a safe, dynamic and inspiring environment for young entrepreneurs.
