UEH Institute of Innovation UII welcomed the group of students from ESSEC Business School to exchange specializations in the startup ecosystem and innovation in Vietnam

Last May 19th, 2022, UEH Institute of Innovation UII welcomed a group of 50 students and lecturers from ESSEC Business School (Top 3 in the QS world’s Master’s program) to study and exchange concerning the startup ecosystem, innovation, and business environment in Vietnam.

Attending the program, in terms of UEH, was the presence of Master Huynh Phuoc Nghia - Deputy Director of UEH Institute of Innovation, Master Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Head of General Department of UEH College of Technology and Design, CEO of UEH Institute of Innovation, Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao - Deputy Head of Department of Research Management - International Cooperation, Master Vuong Khiet - Director of Incubator - UEH Institute of Innovation, Master Tran Nhat Hoang - Deputy Standing Secretary of the School Union, Chairman of the University Student Association, and the participation of the founders of startup companies affiliated with UII Incubator including Mr. Hoang Thinh - STEMax, Ms. Ho Thai Binh - SSVN, and so on.

The overview of the welcoming day for students from ESSEC Business School

Within the framework of the program, students from ESSEC were presented by Researcher Huynh Ngoc Quang Anh - Lecturer at Financial Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies with an overview of Vietnam’s economic growth in addition to an introduction to the development stages and orientation of the startup ecosystem in Vietnam. The most engaging contents of this presentation were development tendencies integrated with technologies of the startup ecosystem and innovation in Vietnam since 2015 and the launch of startup companies in the field of Blockchain, AI, and so on.

Afterwards, Master Vuong Khiet comprehensively introduced the innovative startup ecosystem in Vietnam and the importance of Governmental supportive programs like Project 844 or startup accelerating programs of HCMC Department of Science and Technology. Also, this presentation placed the emphasis on the model of Incubator at UII and the roles, as well as practical activities of Institute of Innovation, established in 2019 within the efforts of promoting the startup and innovation ecosystem in Vietnam.

“Incubator is a non-profit program of UEH for social responsibilities and the community. With a desire to create an incubator for the young generation as well as connect resources and build a sustainable ecosystem for the startup community at universities. Transmitting fire and forging the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation for the young generation, in general, and students, in particular, playing an important role in this current developing context.” - Master Vuong Khiet stated.

Another presentation engaging attention was the sustainable development of the Vietnamese startup ecosystem presented by Mr. Duc Pham from Earth Venture Capital - one of a small number of ventures aiming at the sustainable development of Vietnam and the Southeast Asian Region. This is a new “wind” and the correct pathway for promoting the sustainable development ecosystem.

Ending the program was the face-to-face discussion session related to the spirit of starting up and the real stories of the founders of the startup company SSVN, STEMAX, and UGrowthLab from UII Incubator. They shared openly and faithfully and answer all questions from students as well as concluded precious lessons during the startup process of the young.

Delivering the closing speech at the program, representatives of ESSEC Business School lecturers and students showed their warm gratitude for the UII institute and appreciated the knowledge and information from the guests.

This specialization-exchange program with international partners affirmed the target of regional and international development of the Institute of Innovation contributing to the route to a UEH  multidisciplinary and sustainable University that provides global citizens and high-quality human resources for society.
