On May 20, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Campus in Vinh Long (UEH Mekong) welcomed and worked with a delegation from the Department of Education and Sports of Champasak Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic. This event is a meaningful activity to expand international cooperation in the field of higher education, contributing to the realization of UEH's strategy in promoting educational development in a sustainable Mekong sub-region.
Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, the two sides discussed undergraduate training programs at UEH Mekong, especially those majors that are suitable for the development orientation of high-quality human resources in Champasack province, in particular, and Southern Laos in general. UEH Mekong introduced policies to support international students, including scholarships and other related policies for Lao students, listed as financial support for Vietnamese language training, dormitory, early-course allowance, and monthly stipend, and a multicultural learning environment that is being implemented at UEH Mekong.

The meeting demonstrated the goodwill of cooperation from both sides and opened up many opportunities for future cooperation, including short-term training cooperation, organizing seminars, and joint scholarly research. Representatives of the Department of Education and Sports of Champasack Province highly appreciated the training quality, modern facilities, and sustainable development orientation that UEH Mekong was pursuing, and were pleased with the policies from UEH supporting the Lao PDR in general and Champasack Province in particular.

Strengthening cooperation with international partners in the region is not only in line with the vision of UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable Development for the period 2021 - 2030 but also makes a practical contribution to the implementation of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 4 (Ensuring quality education), SDG 3 (Health and good life) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the goals).

Drawing on this meeting, UEH Mekong continues to affirm their pioneering role in building a sustainable educational network in the Mekong Delta and the Mekong sub-region, constantly expanding connections, spreading knowledge, and contributing to the common development of the regional community.
