UEH - NEU Joint National Scientific Conference Series: Real Estate Market and Green Experiential Tourism in the National Sustainable Development Strategy

Continuing the National Scientific Conference Series co-organized by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the National Economics University (NEU), a forum was held to discuss national-level science and technology research projects. The themes were "The Current State of Real Estate Market Development Linked to Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Vietnam" (code KX.01.08/21-30) and "Developing a Set of Criteria for a Green Experiential Tourism Model in the Coastal Provinces of the Mekong Delta" (code KC.09.01/21-30).

An overview of the conference on "The Current State of Real Estate Market Development Linked to Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Vietnam"

From UEH, attendees included: Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – Chairman of the UEH Scientific and Training Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nham – Acting Dean of the Institute of Innovation, UEH College of Technology and Design; and Dr. Nguyen Kim Duc – Acting Dean of the School of Economics, UEH College of Economics, Law and Government.

From NEU, attendees included: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Thao – Vice Dean of the School of Real Estate and Resource Economics, NEU Business School, and Dr. Nguyen Thanh Lan – Vice Dean of the School of Real Estate and Resource Economics, NEU Business School.

Delegates also included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Socio-Economic and Environmental Studies, Regional Political Academy II; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quyet Thang – Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH); and Dr. Phan Thi Ngan – Acting Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh affirmed: "Over the past decade, Vietnam's real estate market has developed rapidly but still faces challenges. This poses an urgent need for a new direction toward a more sustainable real estate market development that is better aligned with national and community interests. Additionally, to fully harness the tourism potential of the Mekong Delta, a clear and unified set of criteria, tailored to the conditions of each locality, is required.

With these research topics, this conference serves as a vibrant and practical forum, effectively connecting research, practice, and policy, while making a tangible contribution to strategic planning and policymaking in Vietnam for sustainable development."

The first session of the conference, themed "The Current State of Real Estate Market Development Linked to Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth in Vietnam," provided a comprehensive analysis of the real estate market in Ho Chi Minh City and the sector's development levels across Vietnam, proposing policy implications to enhance market efficiency in relation to long-term economic growth.

The next session, themed "Developing a Set of Criteria for a Green Experience Tourism Model in the Coastal Provinces of the Mekong Delta," explored core concepts for developing green experiential tourism in the region. It proposed a framework for evaluating tourism models suited to the unique conditions of the coastal provinces, aiming to establish development standards, enhance competitiveness, and create sustainable value for local communities.

To conclude, a discussion session chaired by Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Thao was held, gathering many practical contributions from the attending delegates.

The in-depth analyses at the conference on the real estate market and the orientation for green experience tourism development not only contributed to the completion of national-level science and technology projects but also offered important strategic recommendations for regulatory agencies, local governments, and the business community.
