Technology on the rise and human resource challenges
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is changing the way businesses operate globally. According to a McKinsey report, Industry 4.0 could increase global GDP by up to $15 trillion by 2030. PwC believes that to maximize the potential and to fully exploit the benefits of technology, businesses need to supplement with strategic human resources in technology management. Deloitte forecasts this human resource to grow 20% annually over the next decade.
According to Delloite, the demand for technology management personnel will increase by 20% annually over the next decade
Who will master the technology and solve the governance challenge?
In the context of digital transformation, the effective application of technology to business models to achieve optimal economic indicators is becoming urgent. Personnel responsible for orienting, coordinating and managing the enterprise's technology strategy or projects; providing technology solutions, developing and managing technology products; ensuring products meet customer and market needs; as well as using analytical tools and techniques to process and interpret data are becoming increasingly scarce and highly valued in the labor market. These will be strategic positions for businesses that wish to be at the forefront of the transformation wave.
However, in practice, there is still a noticeable management challenge: senior staff often have a deep understanding of management and operations but lack specialized knowledge of technology. Conversely, staff in the technology group often have in-depth technical knowledge but lack the understanding of how to apply technology to management.
UEH MBA – Technology Management program - is designed to train interdisciplinary personnel who have both a deep understanding of business administration and a firm grasp of technological aspects. This is a solid foundation for a high-quality workforce, leading the digital transformation process and taking businesses further in the digital era.
