UEH Officially Launching Project on Training International-Level Human Resources in Finance - Banking

University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) officially launched the Project on Training International-Level Human Resources in Finance and Banking. This is Project 5 in the Overall Project on Training International-Level Human Resources (08 programs) for the period 2020-2035, and building a sharing university, according to Decision No. 2426/QD-UBND of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee dated July 5, 2021.
Training high-quality human resources is one of the important tasks set out through the City Party Congresses. The Resolution of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, the 2015-2020 term, clearly stated: “Fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training associated with improving the quality of human resources; creating strong changes in the quality and effectiveness of education and training; strongly innovating teaching and learning methods in a modern direction, meeting regional and international education standards. Building Ho Chi Minh City into a learning city, a high-quality education and training center of the country and Southeast Asia, meeting the requirements of development and international integration.” The Resolution of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, the 2020-2025 term also mentioned a breakthrough for human resource development for the city.
On July 5, 2021, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued Decision No. 2426/QD-UBND approving the Overall Project on Training International-Level Human Resources for 08 Programs in the period of 2020-2035 and building a Sharing University. The Project on training international-level human resources in Finance - Banking is Component Project 5 implemented by the People's Committee of the City, and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City was selected as the host of this project.
The objective of the Project on training international-level human resources in Finance - Banking is to design and to develop a training program and to propose the organization of international-level human resource training for Finance - Banking in the period of 2021 - 2035; contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce, creating competitive advantages and promoting economic growth for Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general in the process of integration into the global value chain; concurrently, contributing to comprehensive innovation of education, meeting the trend of globalization of the workforce.
Based on the results of the "International Human Resource Training Project for Finance - Banking" which was accepted in July 2023, UEH officially issued and implemented the International Human Resource Training Project for Finance - Banking with the name "International Human Resource Training Program for Finance - Banking", specifically as follows:
Training program: Closely following the objectives, output standards, and program structure according to the Project. In particular, the general objective is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of Finance - Banking as well as basic knowledge of economics and management. The program emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, building essential skills and developing professional skills to help students meet international job requirements, quickly integrate into the labor market of Finance – Banking as well as quickly adapt to the development of technology and the process of global integration.
Selection method: The selection subjects are full-time university students who have been admitted to UEH in 2024 (K50) in the Finance, International Finance, and Financial Investment classes, meeting the following conditions: Students voluntarily registering to participate in the pilot training; having English proficiency of IELTS 6.0 or higher or other equivalent certificates; students committing to completing the course; students committing to fulfilling obligations regarding working/internship with a position appropriate to the field of expertise, in case of receiving a corresponding scholarship from the sponsor.
Number of students selected: 30 - 40 students, based on the entrance exam results of K50, from high to low in case there are many students registered.
Training plan: The training duration is 3.5 years, including 124 credits, tuition fee for the entire course is 202 - 210 million VND. Language of instruction is 100% English, except Marxist-Leninist Philosophy and Ho Chi Minh Ideology. The maximum number of subjects taught by foreign lecturers is 10. After completing the training program, students will be awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Finance - Banking (International Human Resources Training Program) by UEH. Concurrently, there is an opportunity to receive a second degree granted by a foreign university based on the recognition of UEH's international training program if they meet the requirements and corresponding output standards.
The Project on Training International-Level Human Resources in the Finance and Banking Sector, chaired by UEH, contributes to the development of training program standards to help the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee have a basis for selecting an international-level human resource training program in Finance and Banking in the period 2021 - 2035. Therefore, in order for the program to be effectively implemented, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, in addition to the participation of UEH, pays special attention to the support of businesses and units in Finance and Banking in the UEH training activities. For example:
- Schools and businesses cooperate with each other through scholarship funding mechanisms to pilot student training;
- Businesses can proactively order personnel training according to their needs;
- Experts at enterprises can participate in teaching in the program in the form of practical seminars in the classroom, depending on the specific characteristics of the subject;
- Enterprises are selected and receive students to participate in tours, internships, and participate in trainee management programs;
- Enterprises participate in evaluating the quality of human resources after training, proposing adjustments to the training program according to the results of the Component Project in accordance with the reality and requirements of the labor market.
Proactively training international-level human resources, especially workers in Finance and banking, is extremely necessary and has a key role in enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese workers with foreign workers in the domestic and regional labor markets; contributing to preparing human resources for the successful construction of the international financial center of Ho Chi Minh City; contributing to strengthening the economic growth momentum of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. The new global context requires international-level human resources to be fully prepared for and integrated into the labor market as global citizens.
