UEH Party Committee Conference and Expanded Key Officials Meeting for the First Half of 2026, Implementation of the Prime Minister's Project on UEH's Top 150 Asia Ranking, and Recognition of Outstanding Collectives and Individuals for Following Ho Chi Minh's Ideology, Ethics, and Style in 2026 (May 2025 - April 2026)

On June 11, 2026, the Party Committee of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly convened the Full Party Committee Conference and Expanded Key Officials Meeting for the first half of 2026. The conference was held in a hybrid format, with more than 250 party members and key officials attending in person at Hall B1.302, alongside full online participation by all party members.

The conference marked a significant milestone to assess performance results for the first half of the year, consolidate leadership positions within the Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, implement the Prime Minister's Project on developing UEH into one of Asia's leading higher education institutions, and recognize outstanding collectives and individuals for following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style.

Overview of the conference

Attending the conference on behalf of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee were: Comrade Nguyen Thanh Xuan, City Party Committee Member and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Comrade Ha Thi Hong Hai, Member of the Party Committee Executive Committee, Head of the Organization Board, and Member of the Party Committee Inspection Commission; Comrade Doan Truong Quang, Member of the Party Committee Executive Committee, Head of the Board of Propaganda and Public Mobilization, and Leader of Working Group No. 3 in charge of the UEH Party Committee; and Comrade Dinh Thi Hien, Member of the Inspection Commission of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee.

On behalf of UEH, the conference was attended by: Comrade Bui Quang Hung, Party Committee Secretary and President of UEH; Comrade Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Vice President of UEH; Comrade Dinh Cong Khai, Vice President of UEH; Comrade Nguyen Thien Duy, Member of the Standing Committee, Chairman of the Party Committee Inspection Commission, and Head of the Office for Communist Party and Organizations; former UEH leaders from various periods; and all Party branch secretaries, subordinate cell secretaries, and key officials across the university.

Announcement of Personnel Decisions and Directing Remarks from the Superior Party Committe

Opening the program, Comrade Ha Thi Hong Hai, Head of the Organization Board of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee, announced the decisions appointing key personnel of the UEH Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee issued the following decisions:

- Decision No. 998-QD/DU dated June 1, 2026, appointing Comrade Bui Quang Hung as Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2030 term.
- Decision No. 980-QD/DU dated May 26, 2026, appointing Comrade Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2030 term.
- Decision No. 1010-QD/DU dated June 10, 2026, approving the supplementary election of Comrade Vo Thi Mai Xuan as Member of the Inspection Commission of the Party Committee of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2030 term.

Following the presentation ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Xuan, City Party Committee Member and Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Party Committee, delivered directing remarks to the conference and assigned responsibilities to the newly appointed officials. He congratulated the UEH Party Committee on the consolidation of its key personnel in the spirit of title unification and outlined five priority tasks:

1. 1. Fostering internal solidarity: The Executive Committee is to uphold its valued traditions, strive to overcome challenges, innovate leadership methods, and adhere closely to working regulations in order to build a clean and strong Party Committee.
2. 2. Concretizing strategic projects: Close coordination between the Party Committee and the University Board of Directors is required to translate the orientations and objectives of Politburo Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW and Prime Minister's Decision No. 966/QD-TTg into practical outcomes of the highest effectiveness.
3. 3. Prioritizing political and ideological work: Timely education, awareness guidance, and monitoring of ideological developments among staff, employees, and students are essential, with the collective interest placed above all else to ensure institutional stability.
4. 4. Improving the quality of Party cell activities: Party cell activities are to be renewed in accordance with Politburo Directive No. 50-CT/TW, working toward the "4-Good Party Cell" and "4-Good Grassroots Party Committee" models in conjunction with the use of digital Party member handbooks.
5. 5. Strengthening inspection and supervision: Compliance with Party guidelines and resolutions is to be monitored, and anti-corruption and anti-waste efforts are to be intensified to promptly prevent and address shortcomings at an early stage.

In his remarks accepting the assignment, Comrade Bui Quang Hung, in his capacity as Party Committee Secretary and UEH President, expressed sincere gratitude for the trust placed in him by the superior leadership. He affirmed that the UEH leadership collective would continue to proactively pursue innovation and uphold the tradition of solidarity to swiftly stabilize the organizational structure and focus on the effective fulfillment of professional duties and the university's development strategy.

In order to promote positive values and strengthen the culture of exemplary conduct in teaching and research, the UEH Party Committee recognized 9 collectives and 52 individuals for outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style during the period from May 2025 to April 2026.

Strategic Directions for UEH's Entry into the Top Asian Universities

The next major item on the conference agenda was the presentation of the strategic project and action program for the implementation of Prime Minister's Decision No. 966/QD-TTg dated May 29, 2026, on the approval of the project to develop several major higher education institutions in the Southeast region, delivered directly by Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung.

Comrade Bui Quang Hung emphasized the historic distinction of UEH being selected as one of only three major higher education institutions nationwide chosen by the Government for priority development in the Southeast region. Building on nearly 50 years of development and remarkable achievements in autonomy and internationalization, the project opens a historic opportunity for UEH to make a decisive breakthrough and assert its international standing, with the strategic goals of joining the Top 150 universities in Asia by 2030 and advancing into the Top 100 universities in Asia by 2035.

To realize this vision, UEH's strategic direction focuses on developing an advanced, modern university model that serves as a leading engine of innovation, with the following key priorities:

• - Continuing to innovate and refine a modern, streamlined, and effective multidisciplinary university governance model in accordance with advanced international standards.
• - Strengthening investment and upgrading facilities in a synchronized manner, developing advanced digital infrastructure, and creating a modern academic environment to effectively support high-level teaching and scientific research.
• - Accelerating the development of a contingent of internationally qualified leading experts and scientists; enhancing research and technology transfer capacity in conjunction with innovation, digital transformation programs, and making substantive contributions to the socioeconomic development of the Southeast region and the country as a whole.

In particular, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung emphasized UEH's commitment to holistic education and the development of generations of leaders with innovative thinking and capability, striving to create value in service of society. By integrating technology, interdisciplinary collaboration, and social responsibility, UEH commits to addressing both local and global challenges in pursuit of a prosperous and sustainable future.

As the head of the institution, Comrade Bui Quang Hung called on all Party members and key officials to bring their full leadership capacity, courageously transform their management mindset, place collective interests above all else, and join hands to realize the university's development strategy.

After more than two hours of earnest and responsible deliberation, the UEH Party Committee Conference and Expanded Key Officials Meeting for the First Half of 2026 concluded successfully. The outcomes of the conference provide an important foundation for strengthening confidence and generating strong momentum for the entire UEH community to unite and move forward together into the nation's era of rising, with firm determination to realize the goal of affirming the standing of Vietnamese higher education on the regional and global map.
