15 Aug, 2024

University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has awarded 70 billion VND scholarships to undergraduate students, aiming at 3 sustainable development goals: creating opportunities for learners from different backgrounds (SDG1), building equitable access to education, motivating learners to improve their achievements (SDG4) and connecting communities for education (SDG17).

70 billion VND scholarships for undergraduate students

The new point of UEH's comprehensive scholarship policy is to expand support to various undergraduate students in different modes, from full-time study; transferring; part-time study; transferring from college; and part-time transferring from intermediate schools.

This comprehensive policy is developed on the foundation of the success of the annual scholarship program for students of the 1st Degree of the UEH, which is an effective source of financial support meeting the right targets at the right time and encourages continuous efforts from learners.

Diverse forms of scholarships to accommodate students

Along with expanding the scholarship, the new policy with 06 types of scholarships aims at different target groups, including:

  • The Academic Encouragement Scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students with fair academic records or without discipline at the level of reprimand or higher during the semester of scholarship consideration and within the scholarship quota; new full-time undergraduate students with high entry scores and within the scholarship quota.
  • The Dual Degree Scholarship is for UEH students who have graduated from the first program are studying the second program, and meet the regulations. The new scholarship policy aims to encourage UEH students to expand their knowledge and skills in different fields by studying more than one program at the same time. In particular, students with dual degrees are also given priority in considering UEH Academic Encouragement Scholarships, UEH Study Support Scholarships, and external scholarships.
  • UEH International Student Exchange Scholarships include full and partial scholarships that cover a portion of living expenses and exempt course tuition fees to support UEH students participating in international student exchange programs at partner universities. Helping students have the opportunity to experience diverse learning with short-term and long-term international study periods, as a gateway for them to get acquainted, join, and become citizens working in a global environment, the scholarship aims at UEH students who meet the requirements to participate in UEH's international student exchange programs.
  • The Study Support Scholarship is an extension of UEH's efforts to reach out and support students who are in difficult circumstances yet still strive to study. The scholarship is for undergraduate students who are in difficult circumstances, with fair academic records or higher, have not been disciplined at the level of reprimand during the scholarship semester, and are within the scholarship quota.
  • The Emergency Support Scholarship is UEH's timely attention and support for students facing unexpected financial difficulties such as natural disasters, illnesses and so on. Depending on the emergency situation the student encounters, UEH will have different levels of support.
  • Scholarships external to UEH are granted by individuals and units outside UEH to full-time students in many forms that UEH cooperates with, receives and implements during the year. This not only helps students financially but also creates opportunities for career development for students at leading enterprises.

Opportunity to realize the dream of lifelong learning

UEH's new scholarship policy with the message "Unlock Dreams: Lifelong Learning, Limitless Future" demonstrates UEH's efforts in providing lifelong learning opportunities for all students so that they can access high-quality education, develop comprehensively and equally reach their dreams and grasp their own future.

With timely and appropriate financial support, the scholarship policy will help students have the motivation to study, to research, to proactively seize opportunities, and to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve their goals, thereby, creating a dynamic learning community with each individual constantly developing and making positive contributions to the community and society.

“With the UEH Multidisciplinary and Sustainable strategy, we strive to build many policies to support the complete learning journey of learners, before, during, and after graduation. The new scholarship policy is how we meet the sustainable development goals for learners, specifically, aiming at 3 sustainable development goals: creating opportunities for learners from different backgrounds (SDG1), building equitable access to education, creating motivation to improve learners' achievements (SDG4) and connecting the community for education (SDG17).” - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of University of Economics  Ho Chi Minh City - remarked.

UEH's new scholarship policy will officially be effective from the last semester of 2024 (from August 2024). This is an important step to open up more opportunities for students, creating an environment for them to confidently assert themselves in terms of academic results and positive pioneering attitudes in all activities.
