It also sought to raise awareness and propose concrete solutions to modernize and elevate Vietnamese higher education.
Attending the conference from the Central Propaganda and Education Commission was Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; along with leaders from central and local committees, ministries, and agencies, as well as managers, scientists, and leading education experts.

Overview of the Conference
In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, stated that Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW is one of seven Politburo resolutions of strategic significance, forming a unified whole and serving as a breakthrough to lead the country into a new era. Building on Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW and Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the 13th Politburo, Resolution 71 defines the perspectives, goals, tasks, and breakthrough solutions for the development of education and training.
The conference featured over 40 presentations, focusing on four major themes: University Policy and Governance; Training and Human Resource Development; Scientific Research, Technology, and Innovation; and Integration and Sustainable Development. The discussion sessions clarified many key issues in higher education today, from improving institutional frameworks and modern governance models to solutions for effectively mobilizing resources to foster the development of universities—aiming to build them not only as centers for high-quality human resource training but also as hubs for research, creativity, talent cultivation, and driving national development.
Fulfilling its important role as a higher education institution, UEH demonstrated its community responsibility through policies and practices aligned with the spirit of the Resolution. The presentation titled “The University's Social Responsibility: Serving the Community, Contributing to Sustainable Development,” delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tu Anh, analyzed the policy, theoretical, and practical foundations for implementing a sustainable university model at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). This model is aligned with international trends and the Vietnamese context, particularly the direction set by the Politburo's Resolution 71-NQ/TW (2025). With the philosophy “Pioneering Academics – Serving Society – Driving Innovation – Embracing Sustainability,” UEH is developing a multidisciplinary and sustainable university model based on five pillars, with the training of global citizens at its core.

The presentation outlined the 2021–2025 development roadmap as a testament to UEH's commitment to connecting education with the community and society. A sustainable university, according to UEH's approach, is not only an educational and research institution with social responsibility but also a policy advisor and a connector between local and international entities to foster sustainable action. By 2030, UEH aims to further develop into a “City-University Innovation Hub,” a space for co-creation, knowledge transfer, and value dissemination to serve sustainable development at the urban, national, and global levels.
