UEH visited and worked in Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC)

On the evening of 12th May 2022, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) visited and worked in Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC). This event forthcomingly marked the foundation of a long-term corporation and high-quality human resource training for both.

Attending the program, UEH appointed representatives, were Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH; Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President cum Head of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD - UEH); Dr. Park Young June - Honorary President of CTD - UEH; Assoc. Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairman of the Strategic and Policy Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice President of CTD - UEH; Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart Cities and Management (ISCM); Assoc. Prof. Trinh Thuy Anh - Dean of School of Media - Design (SMD); Dr. Yi Dong Su - Deputy Dean of SMD (CTD - UEH) and Mr. Dong Joo Lee - Chairman of Taelim Corporation (Korea).

Representing EVNHCMC were Mr. Pham Quoc Bao - Chairman of the Board of Members; Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - General Director; Mr. Le Tan Dinh - Member of the Board of Members; Deputy General Directors and Heads of functional Departments and Units.

The overview of the working session

At the session, Mr. Luan Quoc Hung - Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC - reported the orientation of training and development of human resources of the corporation. In the upcoming time, EVNHCMC focused on training human resources for digital and human resource transformation to prepare for joining Vietnam Retail Electricity Market (VREM), and advancing the qualities of customer services; training human resources in corporate management. Especially, the most important issue of the corporation is to build a set of corporate management criteria to measure, assess maturity level, and set development goals which are the evaluating basis of EVNHCMC compared with advanced power Companies worldwide in order to determine the process of improving corporate management capacity to 2025, and the visual capacity to 2045.

With the open-hearted sharing spirit, Heads of UEH and Heads of EVNHCMC exchanged information related to the training human resource cooperation according to EVNHCMC suggestions. Specifically:

  • Practical Research Cooperation in Korea: criteria and standards of corporate management, and HR management model are applied in Korean electricity companies; tools effectively manage productivity, software, and models applied, and implemented in Korea; experiences in carrying out digital transformation in Korean companies, especially, energy industry; experiences in utilizing models and Risk Management methods; and experiences in using and implementing OKR model. 
  • Implementing Applied Research Cooperation: Studying the criteria or rating scale/ capacity assessment of corporate management.

Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of UEH Council confirmed: “University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most key public and top prestige universities of the nation, and joins in the process of executing restructuring strategy, and forming a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, and global academic reputation. UEH will accompany Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation in training high-quality human resources to contribute to the development process of the corporation, simultaneously, bringing social and community values, especially, the spread of knowledge value. Besides, UEH signed to carry out a CEO training  program in Korea (learning in Vietnam and Korea), and this year will be the first year to implement it for EVNHCMC learners.”

Dr. Park Young June - Honorary President of CTD - UEH also introduced the CEO training program in Korea signed with UEH. Dr. Park Young June believed that the implementation plan of senior management classes for managers of EVNHCMC with an organization plan of two domestic studying stages and practical research in Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) will open for EVNHCMC and KEPCO chances to meet and exchange to finish development purposes of EVNHCMC in the phase of 2030, and the vision to 2045.

In the framework of the program,  the executive board of EVNHCMC introduced and led the executive board of UEH to visit the Power System Dispatch Center and Customer Care Center.

Implementing the cooperation agreement between University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, in April 2022, UEH officially carried out a “Training program for managers at level 3 - Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation in 2022” for 138 learners working at EVNHCMC. The program tended to complement the knowledge, and modern corporate management skills of managers at level 3 of EVNHCMC. To organize the course, UEH invited lecturers who have the knowledge, and practical experience to teach and prepare facilities for classroom services, and apply technology in classroom organization and management listed as using App, Dashboard, LMS UEH, and electronic student cards.

Through 46 years of forming and development, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) became the top University brand in the Vietnamese higher education system and marked in the global market, as a place to train managers and successful businessmen, which is trusted by great corporations, and companies in training human resources, and contributing in high-quality human resource development serving for national industrialization and modernization in the context of the global economic integration.
