On March 4, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) hosted a working session with a delegation from Work Academy and Corona Hotel (Japan). The visit was held within the framework of implementing the tripartite co-operation agreement between UEH, Work Academy and GOEN Business Training, and formed part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of UEH’s foundation.

Representing UEH were Assoc. Prof. Pham Khanh Nam, Head of the Department of Research, Development and Global Engagement (RDGE); Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh, Vice Rector of the College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG); Dr. Vo Doan Tho, Vice Dean of the UEH School of Foreign Languages; Mr. Huynh Thuc Dinh, Dean of the UEH Language Institute (UEH-LI); Dr. Ho Minh Thang, Vice Dean of UEH-LI; Dr. Nguyen Duc Tri, Dean of the UEH School of Tourism; and Mr. Doan Duc Minh, Vice Dean of UEH School of Tourism, together with school members and UEH students.
Representing delegation were Mr. Matsuda Masahiro, President of Work Academy; Mr. Oishi Hiroo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Work Academy; and Mr. Oshima Katsuya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Corona Hotel, along with other representatives from Work Academy and Corona Hotel.
Delivering welcome remarks at the event, Assoc. Prof. Pham Khanh Nam shared insights into UEH’s development orientation, its practice-oriented training model and its internationalization strategy in higher education. The occasion also provided Japanese delegation with an obvious understanding of UEH’s training capacity as well as its direction for international collaboration.

Work Academy representatives shared the potential for expanding global opportunities for UEH students.
Within the framework of the working session, UEH, Work Academy and Corona Hotel discussed and agreed on specific criteria for the Mission Intern (MI) 2026 program. The discussions covered the number of participating students, competency requirements, internship pathways, support arrangements and evaluation mechanisms for interns.
To experience firsthand UEH’s teaching approach that integrates theory with practice, the delegation observed a simulated class session with the theme “Customer Expectation,” conducted by UEH lecturers.

In addition to experiencing the training model firsthand, the delegation also had a UEH Boutique Hotel tour, a training hotel designed to provide a practice-based learning environment for students in the field of tourism and hospitality.

The working session opened up promising prospects for collaboration in training and international internship connections, contributing to the expansion of UEH’s partner network and creating more global development opportunities for its students. It also reaffirmed the University’s position within international education cooperation networks while broadening opportunities for learners to study, gain experience and work in a global environment.

About Work Academy and Corona HotelWork Academy is a training and coordination organization for international internship programs, with partnerships spanning more than 70 universities across Japan. It serves as a bridge between higher education institutions and Japan’s corporate sector, including businesses, hotels and service groups. Under its cooperation agreement with UEH, Work Academy connects UEH students with internship opportunities in Japan and provides career orientation, skills preparation and workplace culture training before their placement. Corona Hotel, a subordinate unit of the Work Academy ecosystem, directly hosts international interns in the tourism and hospitality sector. Representatives from Corona Hotel oversee internal training, hotel operations and intern performance evaluation. Their participation in the visit is particularly significant, as Corona Hotel serves as the direct host organization for UEH students undertaking internships in Japan. |
