UEH Welcoming and Working with the Casualty Actuarial Society and Bao Minh Joint Stock Company

On the afternoon of September 5, 2024, the School of Mathematics and Statistics under the UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) welcomed and worked with a delegation of experts from the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Bao Minh Joint Stock Company. The working session and the meeting with students brought various useful perspectives and approaches to the market in the insurance sector.

The Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) is a leading international organization for professional certification and education. Founded in 1914, CAS is the world’s only actuarial organization focused exclusively on property and casualty risk, serving more than 10,000 members worldwide. CAS members are experts in the fields of property and casualty insurance (also known as general insurance), reinsurance, finance, risk management, and enterprise risk management. CAS-trained professionals help businesses and governments make informed strategic, financial, and operational decisions. Currently, CAS has many activities to support students, including UEH Risk Analysis and Actuarial students, such as providing free online courses for the students.

On the afternoon of September 5, 2024, the School of Mathematics - Statistics, UEH College of Technology and Design solemnly organized a reception for the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Bao Minh Joint Stock Corporation to visit and exchange with lecturers and students of the Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing Program, School of Mathematics - Statistics, UEH CTD.

Attending the program, on behalf of CAS, there was Mr. Ronald T. Kozlowski, FCAS - CAS's Asian Ambassador. On behalf of Bao Minh Joint Stock Company, there was the participation of Mr. Vo Duy Cuong - Appointed Actuary and representatives from the Business Development Department. Welcoming the delegation, on behalf of the School of Mathematics - Statistics, UEH College of Technology and Design, there was Mr. Pham Tri Cao - Deputy Head of the Department of the Department of Economic Mathematics; Ms. Bui Thi Le Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department of Economic Mathematics and Director of the Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing program, and lecturers of the School.

The program is divided into 02 sessions. In the first session, the expert delegation met with lecturers participating in teaching Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing to discuss some contents related to the curriculum and professional certification exams of the CAS association.

In the second session, the experts had the opportunity to interact directly with students at Hall B1.302. The students learned about the CAS and professional certification and were updated on new topics listed as flying cars, cyber security risks, climate change and the challenges facing ‘actuaries’ in the field of non-life insurance pricing. Students also had their questions answered by experts about the CAS, opportunities for the non-life insurance industry in Vietnam and opportunities for actuaries in Vietnam. The organizers also gave many attractive gifts to students who participated in the minigame as well as had impressive questions for the speakers.

The working trip of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and Bao Minh Company with UEH ended successfully with new perspectives from businesses and educational institutions. It has opened up cooperation opportunities between UEH and CAS as well as Bao Minh Company in building training programs meeting the needs of the insurance market.
