From March 18 to 20, 2024, the UEH Student Union, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Volunteer Blood Donation Center, organized the 49th Volunteer Blood Donation Week. The event, themed "Rose Diary," saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, and students.
Carrying a message of compassion and sharing, "Rose Diary" was more than a typical blood drive; it was a meaningful journey. It brought together kindred hearts to share life-saving blood donations, spreading the noble pioneering and volunteer spirit of UEH's youth.
Preparations for the 49th Blood Donation Week
The event was planned and coordinated with the Blood Donation Center in February 2024. All relevant information and guidelines for the 49th Volunteer Blood Donation Week: "Rose Diary," including FAQs like "Why should you donate blood?", "What are the benefits of donating blood?", and "What to do before and after donating," were disseminated online via the UEH Volunteer and Student Support Committee's Fanpage. This ensured that students were well-informed, fostering a spirit of solidarity and promoting a positive lifestyle within the UEH community.
A Meticulously Organized and Memorable Week
Throughout the week, the lobby of Hall B1 at Campus B was bustling with activity. Despite the crowds, every stage of the event—from preparation and blood collection to post-donation care—was handled with meticulous organization. Members of the UEH Volunteer and Student Support Committee and student officials from various Schools/Institutes/Dormitories arrived early to set up designated areas and ensure all necessary equipment was in place. Medical staff and the support team from the Blood Donation Center were ready to welcome volunteers as they lined up to register.

Before donating, all volunteers underwent a health check and were offered sweet tea to ensure their safety. Each donor received a light meal, a gift from the Blood Donation Center, a gift from the Student Union, and a certificate of appreciation. Throughout the process, they were accompanied and supported by the dedicated members of the UEH Volunteer and Student Support Committee and student officials.

The week was a great success, with a large turnout of volunteers. Truong Ngoc Anh Thu, a member of the UEH Volunteer and Student Support Committee, shared: "I joined the program because I heard that donating blood is good for your health, so I was a bit nervous at first. But after donating, fortunately, the process went smoothly, and I feel incredibly happy knowing I've helped patients in need."

With each donation contributing 50,000 VND to the "Bright Future" Scholarship Fund, the 49th Blood Donation Week raised a total of 28,100,000 VND for the fund from 562 donations, amounting to 196,700 ml of blood given.
The Volunteer Blood Donation Week is a testament to the spirit of solidarity and mutual support within the UEH community. It provides an opportunity for every individual to express their compassion, generosity, and sense of community responsibility. Though a simple act, donating blood carries immense significance.
The Organizing Committee would like to extend its sincere and profound gratitude to the medical staff, UEH faculty, leaders of the Youth Union and Student Union, and all participating students for their efforts and spirit of sharing. Your contributions were essential to the success of this Blood Donation Week. Let us continue to join hands in donating blood to spread love, light up hope for patients, and support students in difficult circumstances to pursue their academic dreams. This spirit of unity and dedication creates positive value for our community and learning environment.
