University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and National Economics University Held Working Session on Cooperation with Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee

On the afternoon of January 8, 2026, a delegation from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the National Economics University (NEU) held a working session with the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to review the outcomes of their past cooperation and discuss key collaborative orientations for the next phase. The meeting focused on agendas aimed at realizing the goal of double-digit economic growth, in alignment with science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and private economic development as outlined in the Politburo's 'Pillar' Resolutions.

An overview of the working session

The working session was chaired by Comrade Nguyen Long Bien – Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, and was attended by leaders from the provincial Departments of Finance, Science and Technology, Education and Training, Home Affairs, and Culture, Sports and Tourism.

From UEH, attendees included: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Acting President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai – Vice President of UEH; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – Chairman of the UEH Development Strategy Council; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – Chairman of the Science and Training Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Chairwoman of the UEH Alumni Executive Committee; and representatives from specialized departments and institutes.

From NEU, attendees included: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho – Secretary of the Party Committee; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu – Vice President of the University; Dr. Nguyen Huu Dong – Chairman of the NEU Trade Union; and representatives from specialized offices, departments, and institutes.

At the meeting, the UEH representative reported on the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and UEH for the 2023–2028 period, which was signed in April 2023. Over the past two years, UEH has worked closely with provincial departments to implement numerous practical training, research, and policy consulting activities. Highlights include Master's degree programs for local civil servants and public employees; professional training and workshops for officials in the home affairs and inspection sectors; STEM education programs, international academic summer camps, innovation competitions for students; alongside many scientific research, cultural-artistic activities, and business networking events leveraging Khanh Hoa province's development advantages.

Concurrently, UEH has collaborated with provincial agencies on provincial-level scientific research projects, notably the project to establish a National Research Center for Ocean Technology; and also launched the academic webpage "Where Knowledge Converges" on a local media platform to disseminate interdisciplinary research and connect academia with the socio-economic development of the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions.

Building on these achievements, UEH and Khanh Hoa Province signed a new Cooperation Agreement for the 2025–2030 period in August 2025 and issued a detailed implementation plan to deepen the partnership, focusing on key local areas. Around the same time, UEH broke ground on the UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang project in Khanh Hoa—a significant milestone in expanding UEH's academic presence in the region, with completion expected in 2026.

At the working session, leaders from UEH and NEU jointly proposed a list of key cooperation areas for the next phase. The two universities will collaborate on research and consulting for Khanh Hoa's socio-economic development strategy, focusing on the pillars of industry, energy, tourism-services, urban development, and the digital economy. They will also provide consulting on solutions to innovate the growth model through science-technology, innovation, digital transformation, and support the development of the province's innovation and startup ecosystem, in line with the effective implementation of the Politburo's Resolutions No. 57 and No. 68.

The leadership of Khanh Hoa Province highly valued the long-term partnership and commitment of UEH and NEU in supporting the locality's socio-economic development. Based on the cooperation proposals, the province agreed to prioritize key initiatives and assigned relevant departments to coordinate with UEH and NEU to specify an action plan in the coming time. Thereby, step by step forming an effective cooperation model between the locality and leading universities, contributing to helping Khanh Hoa develop rapidly and sustainably in the new phase.

The working session reaffirmed the role of universities in linking knowledge, research, and training with regional development needs. Building on the partnership between UEH, NEU, and Khanh Hoa Province, all parties agreed to enhance coordination and leverage their academic strengths to make tangible contributions to the locality's growth and sustainable development in the coming period.
