In the jubilant atmosphere of the nation welcoming the new academic year 2025-2026 and celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), on the morning of September 5, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly held its Opening Ceremony at Hall A.116 in HCMC and Hall A at UEH Mekong. The event also served to disseminate important information to students.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council (2020-2025 term); Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President; the leadership of UEH's member colleges, campuses, and affiliated units; along with esteemed faculty members and over 1,000 student leaders and representatives from the 49th and 50th cohorts present at Hall A.116 in HCMC and Hall A at UEH Mekong.

Marking the 80-year journey of the establishment and development of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), the Opening Ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year was held simultaneously across the country, opening new doors with aspirations for innovation in the future of Vietnam's education sector. The main event, held at the National Convention Center in Hanoi—the heart of the nation—was broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV1) and connected online to all educational institutions nationwide.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH, emphasized the university's orientation toward enhancing training quality and developing UEH into a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, ranked among the top universities in Asia. He highlighted the university's learner-centric and practice-oriented training approach. He advised students to be proactive in planning their studies, to be serious and persistent in pursuing their goals, and to equip themselves with a solid foundation of mindset, knowledge, skills, foreign languages, and technology. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung also shared the five core values that UEH has cultivated over 50 years: dedication, innovation, connection, inspiration, and sustainable action, empowering students to confidently become global citizens and contribute to socio-economic development.

Within the program's framework, UEH provided important information for second and third-year students on student care and support services, raising awareness about drug prevention, the Student Research Awards, the UEH Green Campus project, and the dual-degree, double major, and integrated dual-major programs, all aimed at expanding learning opportunities, developing skills, and enhancing students' competitiveness.
