University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Honored Among Top 50 Key Institutions of the City on the 50th Anniversary of National Reunification

With positive contributions in training, research, and social responsibility, alongside the practical development of Ho Chi Minh City over the past 50 years, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has been honored as a typical unit with a strong brand and key products of Ho Chi Minh City according to Decision No. 1408/QD-UBND dated April 11, 2025, by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.  

On April 15, 2025, the ceremony to honor 50 enterprises and typical units with strong brands and key products of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) took place at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. The event was organized in cooperation with the City Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.  

The honoring ceremony aimed to acknowledge and show appreciation for the persistent efforts and outstanding contributions of enterprises and units to the socio-economic development of the city over the past 50 years, contributing to the formation of a strong economic space and becoming the economic locomotive of the whole country. From there, it creates motivation for enterprises and units to continue forging ahead, promoting innovation, enhancing competitiveness and international integration, providing a foundation for the sustainable development of the city and the country in the future. 

At this event, the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City announced the decision to recognize 50 exemplary enterprises and units and presented the 50-year emblem to the enterprises and units.

Founded in 1976, alongside the process of national unification, reconstruction, and development of the city over the past 50 years, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has made significant contributions to economic and social development and providing high-quality human resources - a key factor for the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, the southern region, and the entire country.  

UEH is one of the first key public universities in the country granted autonomy by the government very early, and has officially become one of the 9 higher education institutions in Vietnam operating under the model of "multidisciplinary, multi-field university."  

With a legacy of nearly half a century, UEH is a cradle for training high-quality human resources, pioneering autonomy and internationalization, achieving international accreditation standards AUN-QA, FIBAA, AMBA, and the first higher education institution in Vietnam to achieve quality accreditation at the educational institution level from FIBAA. To date, UEH has trained hundreds of thousands of officials, economists, and managers with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for the whole country; has been and is holding important positions in state management agencies, enterprises both domestically and internationally, and leaders, lecturers at universities and colleges, etc.  

Thanks to the outstanding achievements in building and developing, UEH has been awarded high honors by the President of Vietnam as follows: First, Second, and Third Class Labor Medals; First, Second, and Third Class Independence Medals; the title of Labor Hero and so on. Along with that are high positions on the world's leading rankings: Top 501-600 Universities in the World (Times Higher Education 2025), Top 301+ Best Universities in Asia (QS Asia 2024), Top 650 Universities in the World for Sustainability (QS World University Ranking Sustainability 2025), Top 301-400 Universities contributing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (THE Impact Rankings 2023) and more.

Through persistent efforts and outstanding contributions in recent times, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has been honored by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City as an exemplary unit with a brand and key products of Ho Chi Minh City according to Decision No. 1408/QĐ-UBND dated April 11, 2025 - a meaningful title that extends the golden achievements of the collective of UEH officials, civil servants, and employees. Concurrently, the N campus of UEH (Functional Area No. 15 – New Urban Area South City, Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) with its regional linkage nature, creating great momentum for development in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general has been selected as a typical construction project of Ho Chi Minh city.

Also within the framework of the honoring ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - along with representatives of other exemplary organizations and units, had important discussions at the seminar "Journey of Creation - Reaching New Heights" on topics as follows: the role of organizations in creating social value, the leadership and shaping of organizations in the new era, transforming the mindset from growth to creating sustainable value, and defining the future of the city on the global economic map.
