University of Economics Ho Chi Minh Spreading Knowledge of "Computer and Applied Technology" to Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Festival 2023

On September 21 and 22, Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Festival 2023 (AI4VN) organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with VnExpress Newspaper took place with the participation and connection of corporations, domestic and international businesses and universities in the field of technology. A lot of knowledge regarding technology and computers has been updated. UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) - part of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) participated in sharing and co-developing meaningful and highly applicable technology products.

In two days, Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Festival 2023 - AI4VN included 4 thematic seminars, AI Summit forum and an award ceremony for excellent AI application products and solutions with AI exhibitions entitled Artificial Intelligence Empowering Life, which has attracted the community interested in AI technology nationally and internationally. Most of them were young people passionate in technology and representatives of businesses wishing to use smart solutions.

Throughout the two days, there was the AI Expo with 30 booths displaying products applying AR, VR, AI technology, virtualization support, voice recognition of participating units and 10 hiring booths from leading businesses in the field, attracting the art community.

UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD) brought to the festival 3 meaningful technology products including Piano Robot Project; Virtual reality technology that simulates the experience of traffic situations R2S VR Cycling and GrandAR Piano augmented reality project. Specifically:

GrandAR Piano is a collaborative project of research, development and technology testing between the Institute of Innovation, UEH College of Technology and Design, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City with the aim of developing an augmented reality application that can be deployed in large spaces or public locations. GrandAR Piano allows users to interact and play with a virtual piano displayed on a computer screen through the use of feet interacting with markers. The system allows one or more users to interact with markers to play a virtual piano at the same time. Through research results, the group tested options to develop for UEH students to experience music and technology intersection. The product was presented for the first time at the Technology and Innovation Festival 2022, bringing special emotions to UEH students when interacting with virtual keyboards. Hall B1 was filled with musical notes played by the artists that students created. This is a project about human-machine interaction that first time appeared in Vietnam and changed the image of a multidisciplinary UEH.

The Piano Robot project was developed from a research project of the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology (3I Institute), part of the UEH College of Technology and Design. The project is proof of the creativity and high applicability of technology in the fields of art and education. The robot will become a talented pianist, capable of performing complex music and interacting with the audience, helping people access and love music through unique and interesting performances. The project is an excellent example of the combination of mechatronics, information communications, and programming to create an innovative product.

R2S VR Cycling is a breakthrough product in the field of traffic safety education, developed under a research project of the Institute of Smart Cities and Management (ISCM) at UEH College of Technology and Design. Using virtual reality technology (VR), R2S VR Cycling aims to provide an advanced and engaging learning method for high school students in Ho Chi Minh City by creating a realistic virtual environment. Thanks to VR technology, students can experience traffic in a safe and easily controlled environment, helping students master traffic rules, develop observation skills, and evaluate situations to quickly and safely react to situations. The project aims to create a knowledgeable, healthy and safe future generation.
