"Vinh Long Open Half Marathon 2025 - Journey of the Mekong Heart"

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Reunification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 139th Anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025), the People's Committee of Vinh Long Province has directed the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vinh Long to coordinate with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and relevant units to organize the "Vinh Long Open Half Marathon 2025 - Journey of the Mekong Heart," which will take place on April 27, 2025, in Vinh Long Province. This event is not only a sporting activity responding to the movement of physical fitness following the great Uncle Ho's example, but it is also a notable highlight within the framework of the Vinh Long Culture, Sports, and Tourism Week 2025.
General Information About the Running Event:
The "Vinh Long Open Half Marathon 2025 - Journey of the Mekong Heart" is a particularly significant event in the series of activities commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the Reunification of the Country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 139th Anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025).
With the theme "Mekong Heart Journey," the running event is not just a physical exercise activity but also a symbol of connection among people and hearts directed toward the land of cultural and historical significance. Vinh Long, likened to the "heart" of the Mekong Delta, nestled between the two main branches of the majestic Mekong River, the Tien River and the Hau River, is the ideal starting point for this meaningful journey. With its strategic position, it plays not only a pivotal role in economic, trade, and tourism development in the region but also in spreading profound humanitarian values.
Every step on the running course will be a heartbeat originating from the heart — carrying the spirit of living healthily, beautifully, responsibly, and the aspiration to contribute to the community and the homeland. This race is an opportunity for each athlete to help paint the picture of a friendly, compassionate, and vibrant Vinh Long, reflecting the spirit that this land has preserved through countless generations.
Event Schedule:
+ Registration Deadline: Until April 20, 2025.
+ Opening Ceremony: 5:00 PM, April 26, 2025 (Saturday) at the Vinh Long Sports Training and Competition Center.
+ Competition Time: 4:30 AM, April 27, 2025, in Vinh Long City.
+ Closing Ceremony: 9:30 AM, April 27, 2025, at the Vinh Long Sports Training and Competition Center.
Scale: Nationwide event
Participants:
+ Athletes must be citizens of Vietnam or foreigners residing in Vietnam.
+ Male and female athletes participating in the 21km race must be 16 years old and above (born in 2009 or earlier).
+ Athletes participating in the 5km or 10km distances under 16 years old must have a guardian who will assume responsibility and sign the "Liability Waiver" (Download file HERE).

The content of the Half Marathon distance for Men and Women is 21km, suitable for all athletes. The starting point is at Vinh Long Stadium on Nguyen Hue Street - run straight to Vo Van Kiet Street - turn left onto Vo Van Kiet Street to the Ceramic Exhibition Road - turn right onto the Ceramic Exhibition Road and run to the junction with Pham Hung Road - loop back to the Ceramic Exhibition Road - turn left onto Vo Van Kiet Street and run to Nguyen Hue Street - turn right onto Nguyen Hue Street to finish on the left side of Vinh Long Stadium.

NOTES FOR ATHLETES:
Athletes must not violate any of the following rules (those who violate any of the following rules will not have their achievements or awards recognized), including:
+ Athletes must not use any wheeled vehicles when participating in the competition;
+ Athletes must not receive assistance from outside individuals who are not part of the Organizing Committee;
+ Athletes must strictly adhere to the race course specified by the Organizing Committee. Any participant who leaves the race course without permission from the referee will be considered in violation of the rules and will be disqualified from the race. "Shortcutting" is determined by the observation of the referee, monitoring devices, or discovered by other athletes;
+ Athletes must not bring any materials or flyers containing content unrelated to the race, or content that is reactionary and against the State and people of Vietnam.
+ Athletes must not wear clothing with inappropriate images, or content unrelated to the program. The Organizing Committee encourages athletes to use uniforms provided by the Organizing Committee.
+ Athletes must not obstruct the race by failing to follow the instructions of the Organizing Committee members. Athletes must not use the restroom at places other than the designated restroom areas.
