Vinh University Delegation Visiting and Working at UEH

On the morning of August 9, 2024, a delegation from Vinh University visited and worked at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). The visit was an opportunity for the two schools to exchange experiences and discuss issues related to governance, especially facility investment, training program development and development according to the multidisciplinary university model.

Overview of the working session

Visiting and working at UEH, on behalf of Vinh University, there was the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc - Vice Rector of Vinh University, Head of the delegation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thai Thi Kim Oanh - Head of the School of Economics; Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Director of the Institute of Research and Online Training; Dr. Le Cong Thanh - Director of the Center for Research and Transfer of Digital Education Technology; Mr. Le Van Tan - Director of the Center for Information Technology; Dr. Nguyen Trong Ha - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Construction; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Dieu Anh - Head of the Faculty of Business Administration, School of Economics; Mr. Nguyen Duy Khanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Bridges and Roads, Faculty of Construction.

Welcoming the delegation from Vinh University, on behalf of UEH, there was the participation of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Khanh Nam - Rector of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; Mr. Vo Ha Quang Dinh - Head of Department of Facilities; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Thanh - Vice Dean of School of Management; Dr. Tran Anh Hoa - Dean of School of Accounting; Dr. Le Dat Chi - Dean of School of Finance; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Thinh - Dean of Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technology.

Expressing his appreciation for the visit from the Vinh University delegation, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Vice President of UEH - remarked: “University of Economics  Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is in the restructuring phase; in addition to strong investment in training quality and human resources, the school also pays great attention to the quality of facilities. In order to build a modern learning environment, the facilities need to be good for students and lecturers to access the best means and conditions for learning and development.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, in recent years, UEH has paid special attention to the goal of developing spacious, modern facilities and aiming for a green, clean, circular, and environmentally friendly university campus with the UEH Green Campus project, approaching the United Nations' sustainable goals. Owning 12 campuses, with the largest and most modern campus located in Binh Chanh District, UEH is nurturing the construction of a closed ecosystem to serve all the learning, training and research needs of students and lecturers. In addition, the school has also invested in projects to renovate, expand and build facilities for campuses in Vinh Long and Nha Trang.

Continuing the program, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc - Vice President of Vinh University - briefly introduced Vinh University’s educational achievements and expressed her concern for facility development: “Vinh University considers improving facilities as one of the strategic goals in addition to improving training quality, especially in a locality with many difficulties listed as Vinh City, Nghe An Province. Therefore, we express our desire to learn from UEH's experience in investing and managing facilities. Concurrently, in the upcoming period, with the project to develop into a university model, we hope to be able to share and to exchange more with UEH in governance and improving training quality ”.

The meeting took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, sharing many issues of interest to the two units, such as (1) Experience in building a multidisciplinary university model and management of member schools, faculties, and institutes; (2) Administration and management of investment in facilities from different units; (3) Experience in building training programs with new majors related to technology.

The visit and work left many impressions and goodwill between the two sides. This is a valuable opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the two schools, a foundation for developing many other cooperative activities between UEH and Vinh University in the future towards developing a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University model.
