On the morning of June 3, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (UEB – VNU) held a working session to exchange experiences in training, research, and university governance in an open and cordial atmosphere. This occasion provided both institutions with an opportunity to strengthen their connection and opened up numerous prospects for strategic cooperation, especially as higher education continues to evolve and vigorously adapt to technological trends and globalization.
Representing the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) were Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Trang – Vice Rector in charge of UEH College of Business; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Khanh Nam – Rector of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; and leaders of UEH’s functional departments.
On behalf of the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (UEB), the delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truc Le – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh – Rector; Dr. Pham Minh Tuan – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Khac Lich – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu – Vice Rector; as well as leaders of UEB’s departments, faculties, institutes, and centers.
Overview of the exchange and working session
In his remarks at the session, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH, extended a warm welcome to the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and emphasized: “UEH recognizes the alignment in orientation and educational mission with the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Therefore, upon learning of your visit, UEH was eager to organize an official exchange session – a platform for both sides to sit together and share experiences, visions, and strategic directions amid the dynamic transformation of higher education. Today’s session marks a robust beginning for many in-depth and practical cooperative activities between our two institutions in the near future.”

Representing the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truc Le – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, shared his thoughts on the partnership: “When I first visited the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in 2018, I was deeply impressed by the professionalism of the environment, from the reception to the organization – small details that inspired us to embark on a journey of rebranding and strategic orientation for the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. We are particularly impressed by UEH’s implementation of digital transformation, effective financial management, and the development of non-budget revenue streams – aspects that UEB is highly interested in as we innovate our university model. Each higher education institution has its own conditions and characteristics, but I believe that through practical exchanges, we can learn from each other, inspire one another, and jointly find the most suitable path for development.”

On this occasion, UEH delivered presentations on topics related to digital transformation and financial management – key factors in the strategy for developing a multidisciplinary and sustainable university. Mr. Vo Ha Quang Dinh – Standing Deputy Head of UEH Department of Facilities Management, delivered a presentation on “Digital Transformation in Universities,” highlighting that this is not merely the application of technology to teaching and governance but a comprehensive restructuring process aimed at building a smart, innovative, flexible, and learner-centered educational ecosystem. The topic of “Financial Management” was presented by Mr. Tran Hoang Tam – Standing Deputy Head of UEH Department of Finance – Accounting, underscoring the importance of building a flexible financial model, diversifying revenue streams, and optimizing cash flows to enhance competitiveness and reinvest in the quality of training, research, and community service. UEH’s insights not only represent valuable practical experience but also provide a foundation for both parties to exchange, compare, and refine the modern university governance model, thereby promoting extensive cooperation, spreading value, and advancing the journey of innovation.

Atmosphere of exchange and collaboration between the two institutions
The working session and experience exchange between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi concluded successfully. Not only did this event provide a platform for both sides to share experiences in governance, training, and research, but it also served as vivid evidence of a strong academic partnership built on trust and long-term collaboration. Since the signing of the cooperation agreement in November 2020, UEH and UEB have together cultivated a journey of extensive, practical, and inspiring cooperation. In an open and consensual atmosphere, both institutions affirmed their determination to pursue advanced and innovative educational values for a modern and developed Vietnamese higher education sector.
