In Week 1 of February 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) recorded 14 international research papers published in reputable journals indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. Among these, 08 papers are ranked in Q1–Q2 (SSCI/SCIE), reflecting UEH’s strong research capacity and international academic integration across a wide range of fields, from economics and management to technology and engineering.

[Research Contribution] China’s Experience in Developing Scientific Journals and Its Implications for Vietnam

Over the past two decades, China has made remarkable strides in innovation and the production of scientific knowledge. The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025 ranked China 10th in the world, making it the only middle-income economy in the top 30. Recently, a statistical report on the scientific publishing market in China noted that the 20 largest international publishers by output published 83% of all research papers involving China-based authors from 2012 to 2021. Drawing from a study by an author at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), this article analyzes the policies and current state of scientific journal development in China, thereby offering several implications for Vietnam in building and developing its own scientific journals in the time to come.

In the context of the digital economy rapidly transforming how people create, transact, and access knowledge, many countries – including Japan and Vietnam – face the urgent need to effectively protect intellectual property in the digital space. In Japan, this issue is given top priority, as evidenced by the continuous updating and refinement of legislation related to copyright, industrial property, and digital data to address infringement, enhance transparency, and ensure fairness for creative entities. The following article analyzes how Japan has constructed its legal framework for intellectual property protection in the digital environment and the lessons drawn from its implementation in practice. On that basis, it offers a number of policy suggestions for Vietnam in the process of refining intellectual property protection legislation suited to the digital era.
