Art Exhibition: "Art versions of Female artists in the collection of Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts" at UEH

From November 12 to 16, 2024, UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD), in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, organized the exhibition "Artistic versions of female artists in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts" to display typical works of Vietnamese female artists at the main Hall of UEH Campus B. The exhibition is an opportunity to honor the unique creations and the important roles of female artists in the country's fine arts as well as contributes to inspiring art and raising awareness of preserving national cultural heritage for the community, especially the younger generation.

Overview of the exhibition opening ceremony

On the morning of November 12, 2024, the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition took place at the Main Hall of UEH Campus B. On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, there were Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Director of the museum; Mr. Nguyen Minh Tu - Exhibition - Education - Communication Department; and Ms. Luu Thi Minh Nguyet - Presentation of the Exhibition - Education - Communication Department. On behalf of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the UEH Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh - Vice Rector of the UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD), Dean of the School of Media Design (SMD); Ms. Dao Thi Minh Huyen - Deputy Chief of CTD Office; with the presence of UEH lecturers and students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Associate Professor. Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh emphasized the profound significance of introducing and honoring female artists while affirming their important role in the development of art and society. She expressed her hope that the exhibition would not only help spread the image of women in art but also be an opportunity to enhance their status in the community. In addition, the exhibition was a great source of inspiration for young people, helping them feel the meaningful values ​​hidden in the works of art. Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh also expressed her gratitude to the Exhibition Organizing Committee, CTD Office, and Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts for their coordination in successfully organizing this meaningful exhibition; concurrently, she wished the exhibition would achieve good results and bring memorable experiences to all participants.

Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum - expressed his joy in introducing the museum's collection to lecturers and students of UEH for the first time. He shared that the exhibition was one activity to expand the scale and to enhance the influence of the museum, bringing art closer to the community, and inspiring the younger generation, especially students. He stated that, as a specialized Fine Arts museum in the Southern region, after more than 30 years of establishment and development, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum has built a collection of more than 22,000 artifacts, divided into valuable collections. The museum has selected 30 works by typical female artists of the country listed as those of Le Thi Luu, To Oanh, Truong Thi Thinh, Trinh Kim Vinh, Le Thi Kim Bach, Dang Thi Duong, Nguyen Thi Tam, Huynh Thi Kim Tien and more to be displayed at the exhibition. He also affirmed that the exhibition was an important occasion to honor the creative contributions of female artists, with the hope that attendees would only find the richness of style and technique besides feeling the deep emotions and messages in the works, from strength and determination to gentleness and sophistication. Finally, he expressed his hope for a closer cooperation between UEH and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts in the future to continue to contribute more to sustainable community development.

The exhibition takes place from November 12 to 16, 2024, at Hall B1, UEH - Campus B. Each version of a female artist's artwork in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts at the exhibition was a distinctive story, demonstrating the talent, the creativity and the artistic soul of Vietnamese women. With 30 unique paintings, bearing the personal imprint of female artists, the exhibition has created an open perspective on art appreciation, encouraging the breaking of gender stereotypes in creativity to appreciate the diverse beauty of art as well as the rich cultural heritage of the nation.
