The Campus of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in Vinh Long province (UEH Vinh Long) was born and put into operation in January 2020 to fulfill the mission of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in training high-quality human resources, researching and transferring science and technology in the fields of economy, society, impacts of climate change, and environmental protection; promoting innovation, criticizing policies to contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta.

 

After the first year of operation with many positive results, UEH Vinh Long has gradually established and affirmed the image and brand of UEH Vinh Long in higher education institutions in Mekong Delta and nationwide.

 

1. AFFIRMING THE POSITION AND MISSION OF UEH IN TRAINING ACTIVITIES OF THE MEKONG DELTA

 

In 2020, the first academic year, UEH Vinh Long welcomed 250 full-time university students with 6 fields and majors in training: Management, International Business, Banking and Finance, Business Accounting, Commerce E-commerce, Economics and Agribusiness. Through the training results after 2 study semesters (including 14 modules, 37 cumulative credits), students of Course 46 - CQU have demonstrated their efforts in learning and training. According to the course statistics, the learning results of the first semester were quite impressive, with more than 70% getting from Good or above, of which Excellence grading accounted for 0.4% (in Economics and Agribusiness major), Very good category accounted for 4.0%; Regarding training results: Excellence and Very good: 82.67%; Good: 17.33%, no students grading  Average and Weak. The school applies unified and standardized student assessment criteria according to UEH and publicizes the evaluation criteria for learners to strive. Through the results of study and practice, it has been demonstrated that students' adaptability to university-level learning methods and dynamism and positivity in training at UEH Vinh Long.

 

In addition to the regular training program, in 2020, UEH Vinh Long has enrolled nearly 200 graduate students, 200 part-time students and nearly 2,500 students studying short courses, meeting the need of training and advancing the level of learners in the region.

 

UEH Vinh Long is also implementing regular university enrollment jobs in 2021 with 500 targets, 10 training disciplines, including 04 nationwide enrollment majors (Agribusiness, E-commerce, Languages. Anh, Tourism and Travel Services Administration) with high expectations of achieving good results. Especially, right in 2021, UEH Vinh Long will start implementing international joint training programs at the Campus in order to carry out the mission of training high-quality human resources and international integration in the Mekong Delta region. 

 

2. ENSURING UEH'S TRAINING QUALITY 

 

Implementing the philosophy of "Teaching and learning what prestigious universities in the world are doing", for more than a year, UEH Vinh Long has focused on receiving and implementing 100% of the advanced program system, along with quality training process and standards from the Main Campus. Allclasses at the Campus are taught by senior and highly qualified lecturers,, with advanced and dedicated teaching methods from UEH.

 

In addition, the Mentoring program was implemented between the main campus teachers and nearly 60 PhDs and masters at the Campus, becoming effective teaching assistants in the subjects taught at UEH Vinh Long.

 

Facilities for training activities of UEH Vinh Long are standardized, ensuring that learners have a modern learning environment like the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

100% of standard theory and practice classrooms are equipped with projectors, smart boards and podiums, sound systems with wireless microphones, tables and chairs with youthful and dynamic designs, encouraging creativity and self-learning. The library - learning materials and self-study areas are invested in connecting to the "UEH Smart Library", which gathers more than 400,000 electronic documents in the fields of economy, commerce, finance, accounting, banking, management, law,... 600 book titles from Harvard Business Review Press and 36,000 titles from publishers of prestigious universities. The wifi network is covered throughout the school and dormitory. Modern hall with extensive LED screen system, creating favorable conditions for students to study and live, practice skills.

 

3. A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT LEARNING AND MOVEMENTS

 

In order to encourage and support students' learning, the University has awarded scholarships with a total budget of VND 504,120,000 (including 51 scholarships for admission and 38 scholarships to encourage in the first semester). . In which, it is quite impressed with the results of student Thai Thuy Tien - Economics & Agribusiness major - who received the scholarship for Exellent Entrance Admission (17,000,000 VND/person) and the scholarship for exellent academic result in the first semester (12,480,000 VND/serving); the remaining scholarships weree awarded to students in the category of Very Good (8,320,000 VND), Good grade (4,160,000 VND), and for talent promotion supported by banks and businesses 5,000,000 VND/serving).

 

Besides, UEH Vinh Long has organized a lot of activities for students to confidently express themselves, integrate with a youthful - dynamic - creative style with many impressive programs. They are the "Say Hi" Night to welcome new students; the collective spirit in sports and exchange activities; valuable lessons in resource activities; a moment of sharing, and fundraising to help the Central citizens in flood, Youth volunteering in summer, opportunities to expand knowledge in business internship, understanding local characteristics and useful workshops on English learning methods, scientific reseach among students or the topic "Wake up yourself, overcome the fear of body shaming"

 

4. INCREASE THE NUMBER OF SHARING ACTIVITIES, CONNECTING BUSINESSES, SCIENTIFIC SEMINARS RELATED TO THE TRAINING PROCESS

 

Vinh Long Campus organizes many inspirational activities for students with speakers who are successful entrepreneurs. To contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta, UEH Vinh Long Campus has connected and organized many seminars with experienced experts and practical knowledge to share ideas and scientific knowledge, multi-field application of science, technology, entrepreneurship, adaptation to climate change... Students of UEH - Vinh Long Campus not only participate in regular classes to learn professional knowledge in the lecture halls, but also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, social activities, serve the community to experience and train themselves.

 

5. MEET THE SATISFACTION OF LEARNERS

 

Toconstantly improve the quality of training and bring the best conditions for students,Vinh Long Campus conducted a student satisfaction survey with the results that more than 80% of students rated their satisfaction about teaching, learning, student service attitude and facilities.

 

A year of operation with a favorable start and many positive results, UEH - Vinh Long is laying the initial foundations for a UEH university in the Mekong Delta. In the immediate future, let's welcome the new students of Course 47 - Regular University and all learners to a Quality, dynamic, professional and friendly learning environment with "Quality, qualifications of UEH” in the Mekong Delta.
