Closing Ceremony of the "Micro-credential Pilot on Green Finance" Program: Promoting Practical Competence in Green Finance and Sustainable Development

On June 8, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), in collaboration with City St George's, University of London (United Kingdom), organized the Closing Ceremony of the "Micro-credential Pilot on Green Finance" program, marking the conclusion of the international pilot training series on green finance and ESG implemented at UEH from June 1 to June 8, 2026.

This program is part of the initial phase of the strategic cooperation plan between UEH and City St George's, University of London - UK, aiming to develop high-quality human resources in the fields of green finance, ESG, and sustainable development, meeting the green transition trend and international integration of Vietnam.

On the side of UEH, the program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly - Vice Rector of UEH College of Business; Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung - Chief of Office of UEH College of Business; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chung Thuy - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Banking; Dr. Phan Thi Bao Quyen - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting.

On the side of City St George's, University of London, attendees included Dame Susan Langley - Lady Mayor of London, Rector of City St George's, University of London - UK; Prof. Sionade Robinson - Vice President (Enterprise, Engagement & Employability); Mr. Matt Bungay - Head of City Apprenticeships Hub; and Ms. Ilona New - Quality Assurance Manager for Apprenticeships.

The program saw the participation of 20 course learners from various universities (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, University of Economics Da Nang, Foreign Trade University, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City), the State Securities Commission of Vietnam, social enterprises, and non-governmental organizations across the country.

Throughout six days of training, the program implemented two in-depth modules:

- Micro-credential 1: Applied Green Finance: Project Appraisal, Risk Assessment & Taxonomy Implementation;

- Micro-credential 2: Green Finance and Applied ESG Integration, Reporting, Assurance, ETS & MRV.

The program content focused on practical topics such as the implementation of the Green Taxonomy, climate risk and sustainability risk assessment in finance-investment activities, ESG integration, sustainable development reporting, ETS, and MRV systems. The training also incorporated case studies, group discussions, and practical applications in both the Vietnamese and international contexts.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly - Vice Rector of UEH College of Business (COB) expressed gratitude to the experts, lecturers, learners, and partner units that contributed to the program's success. She emphasized that although implemented over a short period, the program provided an in-depth learning journey with meaningful discussions, new perspectives, and practical applications in the fields of Green Finance, ESG, and sustainable development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly also highly appreciated the collaboration, professional support, and close partnership from City St George's, University of London throughout the program's implementation. According to her, the pilot program is not only a short-term training activity but also reflects the shared commitment between the two institutions to promote international cooperation, educational innovation, and the development of a workforce ready to meet future global challenges.

On the partner's side, Dame Susan Langley - Lady Mayor of London and Rector of City St George's, University of London conveyed her message to the learners, highly appreciated the close coordination between the two institutions during the program's implementation, and expressed her hope to further expand cooperation in training and academic development in the future -3-10.

Continuing the program, Mr. Matt Bungay - Head of Apprenticeships Hub and Ms. Ilona New - Quality Assurance Manager for Apprenticeship Programs expressed their gratitude to UEH for the warm welcome and dedicated support throughout the pilot program; at the same time, they acknowledged the learning spirit, proactiveness, professionalism, and collaborative ability of the learners.

Through interactive learning activities that encouraged critical thinking, experience sharing, and practical application, the program not only helped learners expand their knowledge but also built an inspiring learning community. The representative from City St George's, University of London emphasized that this was not an end point but the beginning of a long-term learning and development journey, where each learner will continue to innovate, disseminate knowledge, and create positive impacts for their organizations and communities.
