In university settings, understanding and practicing gender sensitivity play a key role in building a civilized and inclusive community that respects individual diversity. Recognizing this, UEH launched the Gender Sensitivity: Behavior in University Settings program to provide students with essential knowledge about gender, helping them better understand the challenges and opportunities related to gender issues in society.
The event was made even more special with the participation of guest speakers Mr. Trần Quang Thọ, Program Coordinator at ICS Center, a leading organization advocating for LGBTQI+ rights in Vietnam, and Ms. Nguyễn Bích Phương, a Master in Development Studies specializing in gender and an independent consultant on Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion. Their expertise and in-depth knowledge brought valuable and practical insights to the students.
Before the event began, attendees enthusiastically joined a mini-game to test their knowledge of gender issues, sparking curiosity and excitement about the topic. Guided by the speakers’ relatable and realistic approach, an open and engaging space was created for participants to explore, share, and learn together. The program became even more captivating as the guest speakers delved into real-life gender-related issues in university settings, recruitment processes, and career development. Using a communication style that resonated with Gen Z and vibrant examples, the speakers shed light on challenges students may face, from gender stereotypes in everyday interactions to invisible barriers in job-seeking for both genders. These insights not only emphasized the importance of creating a fair and equitable environment but also inspired students to identify and address inappropriate behaviors. The event also provided information on UEH's specific policies and procedures that handle such behaviors, ensuring all individuals are protected from harassment and discrimination.

Through the program, participants gained a deeper understanding that gender sensitivity means recognizing the complexities of gender roles, stereotypes in all aspects of social life. Practicing gender sensitivity in university settings helps foster genuine gender equality and reduces the negative impacts of gender biases on everyone.
Following the speakers’ sharing, a Q&A session allowed the audience to pose thought-provoking questions. The speakers not only provided thorough answers but also shared real-life scenarios, encouraging participants to view issues from multiple perspectives. By blending everyday stories with thoughtful analysis, the guest speakers introduced fresh perspectives on gender stereotypes in academics, work, and social relationships. Consequently, the program became more than just a source of information; it served as a means for students to gain a deeper understanding of their role in advancing gender equality in all spheres of life.
