From a Local Mission to a Global Aspiration: UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang – The New Strategic Campus of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Officially Listed among 80 Groundbreaking and Inaugurated Projects Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.

14 Aug, 2025

On August 19, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) will commence the construction of the UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang – a new education and research branch positioned as “A Hub of Global Scholars and Knowledge.” The project is among 80 key national works simultaneously commenced or inaugurated in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), and is also listed among the top five outstanding projects of Khanh Hoa Province.

This is a timely and essential event, taking place as Khanh Hoa Province sets its target for double-digit economic growth during 2025–2030, focusing on four key pillars: industry, energy, tourism–services, and urban development–construction, along with three strategic breakthroughs: completing infrastructure, improving human resource quality, and resolving long-standing projects. The goal is to transform the “New” Khanh Hoa into a centrally governed city by 2030 (according to Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU issued by Khanh Hoa Province on July 14, 2025). The project is also a significant component of the cooperation roadmap between the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for the 2023–2028 period.

Together with 79 other national key projects simultaneously commenced or inaugurated in celebration of National Day, the groundbreaking ceremony of UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang will serve as a live broadcast location on Khanh Hoa Television (KTV) and will be rebroadcast nationally on Vietnam Television (VTV). The event will feature important keynote speeches, strategic directions, and formal remarks from the Prime Minister, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, representatives of UEH leadership, and distinguished international scholars.

UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang – Continuing UEH’s Local Mission

With nearly 50 years of establishment and development, UEH has always maintained close ties and moved in harmony with the development of the cities and localities where it is located—from the dynamic Ho Chi Minh City to the fertile Mekong Delta with the UEH Mekong campus.

The establishment of UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang continues this journey, contributing intellectual resources and capabilities to the South Central Coast – Central Highlands region.

The new campus will undertake three main missions:

+ Training high-quality human resources to meet the socio-economic development needs of the region;

+ Conducting research and transferring practical solutions;

+ Connecting networks of scholars, students, and businesses domestically and internationally.

In addition to UEH’s strengths in economics, law, logistics, tourism, and urban planning, the Nexus Campus will focus on training, research, and international collaboration aligned with Khanh Hoa’s advantages and regional potential, such as sustainable marine economy, marine spatial planning, ocean technology, semiconductor technology, healthcare, and community development.

A Hub of Global Scholars and Knowledge Exchange

Positioned as the “Hub of Global Scholars and Knowledge” within UEH’s nationwide academic ecosystem, the UEH Nexus Campus is envisioned as an interdisciplinary academic space and a center for research, innovation, and development, built on three pillars:

+ Minds (People – Scholars – Community): An open space connecting students, researchers, and leading experts from diverse fields. Through internationally standardized training programs, a fully English-medium academic environment, and a series of workshops, talks, and regular seminars, this campus will be a meeting point for sharing knowledge, perspectives, and experiences—not only for the Nexus community but also for the wider academic community in the region.

+ Books (Knowledge – Global – Curated): A modern library system, book café, and exhibition space for high-quality books, journals, and scientific research works carefully curated by UEH. The goal is to build the leading international knowledge repository in the South Central Coast – Central Highlands, disseminating credible, up-to-date, and diverse knowledge to the community.

+ Ideas (Dialogue – Creativity – Connection): A launchpad for entrepreneurial and creative ideas, where students and the community can experiment and compete through contests, academic programs, and networking activities. Initiatives originating here will be applicable to real-life contexts, contributing to solving local socio-economic development issues.

Notably, the campus will implement the Cooperative Education ASEAN (UEH ASEAN COOP) program, enabling students to study and gain hands-on experience at leading enterprises across Asia, thereby enhancing their readiness for the global workforce while nurturing “Global Citizens – Acting Locally – Going Abroad to Return Home.”

Overall Perspective of UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang

With an optimized – modern – dynamic – green, and sustainable architectural design, UEH Nexus Campus will accommodate 2,000 learners, provide 90 workspaces for staff and faculty, and offer multiple areas dedicated to research, creativity, and community engagement. The dormitory complex will house 376 resident learners, creating a convenient and connected living and learning environment.

The project draws inspiration from Cham architecture, reflecting local culture and traditions while instilling pride in future generations of learners. The library building is designed with the symbolic imagery of a globe and a converging magnifying glass—representing “a place where global knowledge converges locally and connects generations of UEH with the world.”

The main building blocks are linked by green plant carpets in the form of hanging gardens running along the façade, evoking the image of Nha Trang’s golden sands and sunny shoreline. This design not only creates a visual highlight but also improves the microclimate, is environmentally friendly, and aligns with the green university model pursued by UEH.

Project scale:

+ Administration – Research Block: 1 basement, 4 floors, 1 rooftop floor; construction area 2,598 m², total floor area 9,613 m², height 20.7 m.

+ Lecture Hall Block: 5 floors, 1 rooftop floor; construction area 1,073 m², total floor area 5,426 m², height 23.4 m.

+ Functional Block: 3 floors; construction area 637 m², total floor area 2,177 m², height 12 m.

+ Dormitory Block: 1 basement, 5 floors, 1 rooftop floor; construction area 894 m², total floor area 5,150 m², height 21.9 m.

The project is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2026. UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang will become a hub of knowledge convergence, nurturing a new generation of human resources and contributing to the sustainable development and integration goals of Khanh Hoa Province as well as the South Central Coast – Central Highlands region.
