University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is a pioneer in promoting green and sustainable lifestyles among its staff, employees and students (UEHers) by setting goals and encouraging environmentally friendly commuting on and off campus. These efforts encourage each UEHer to develop green commuting habits that accompany the city towards a safe, modern and sustainable urban area.
Issuing Green University Practice Regulations
Not only stopping at building a clean and beautiful university campus but also aiming at comprehensive "greening", in July 2023, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) officially issued the Green University Practice Regulations - Green Campus for all UEH facilities and Vinh Long Campus.
The Regulations are issued with the aim of building awareness and practicing Green University for staff, employees and students at UEH, and building a set of rules to move towards Green Campus. The regulations are also important content in implementing the sustainable university strategy. The Green University Regulations apply to individuals such as students, lecturers, staff and stakeholders to encourage green actions that have a positive impact on the environment and create a sustainable university space. In particular, in Chapter 1, Article 2 of the Regulations aims to increase exercise, encourage people to use stairs, encourage the choice and use of public transport, UEH Shuttle Bus to commute to UEH campuses to save resources, reduce noise and improve health.
Green and sustainable commuting by bus is encouraged at UEH
Since its implementation, the strategy of developing a green university through the UEH Green Campus Project has spread and helped each UEHer practice a green lifestyle and change the habits and behaviors of the UEHer community towards a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University. Realizing that using public transport, especially buses in Ho Chi Minh City, is a good habit that not only saves money and solves traffic jams, but also forms green and sustainable travel habits, UEH has taken actions to encourage each individual to use this means of transport in daily commuting.
Since November 2023, UEH has officially announced that UEHers can use UEH electronic student cards on all public bus routes in the city. In order to help students limit the situation of forgetting/dropping/losing cards while using public bus services, UEH has coordinated with public bus units in Ho Chi Minh City so that UEHers do not need to present plastic student cards, but can use electronic ones. This effort helps change the habits and behaviors of students, while also encouraging them to use public buses, contributing to the creation of a safer, more modern, civilized and greener city.

Deployed throughout the academic year, UEH Shuttle Bus is a fast bus service, with routes, trips and stops specifically designed for staff and students at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to travel between campuses. The UEH Shuttle Bus service not only helps build a green, civilized and modern public transport network, but also a companion with UEHers on the journey to spread a green lifestyle. Through the electronic Student Card and the check-in process when traveling by UEH Shuttle Bus, the green travel rate at UEH can be collected and measured, thereby having new directions and initiatives to encourage green vehicle usage behavior of students.

Sustainable transportation with bicycles
In order to encourage students and attendees to consider and change their living habits, towards a sustainable life through the use of bicycles as a daily means of transport, which is environmentally friendly and cost-effective, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) co-organized the international event "ThinkBike - Sustainable Development" with the Consulate General of the Netherlands and representatives of the Dutch Cycling Embassy. The program "ThinkBike - Sustainable Development" took place with many attractive exchange activities, including speeches from guests, a documentary film called "Together We Cycle" and a discussion session. The event "ThinkBike - Sustainable Development" is a reminder that small actions can make a big difference in promoting the development of greener, safer, and more sustainable cities.

UEH always cares about promoting and encouraging officials, civil servants, employees and students to choose bicycles as a means of daily transportation instead of using motorbikes or cars. Responding to "World Bicycle Day", UEH-ISB organizes the " ISB Cycling Club" for members of the ISB community with a regular cycling schedule of 2 times a week. Joining the Club, ISBers not only improve their health but also raise awareness of environmental protection by minimizing the negative impacts of emissions and building a cleaner and healthier city.
