Korean business trip of UEH and representatives of the People's Committee of District 7, HCMC opening up opportunities for comprehensive cooperation with local authorities, businesses and prestigious Universities in Korea

From September 14 to 18, the delegation of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) coordinated with representatives of the People's Committee of District 7, Ho Chi Minh City led by Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH and Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan Anh - Chairman of District 7 People's Committee visited and worked with Korean partners in an attempt to develop cooperative relationships with units from the country.

During 5 days in the land of kimchi, the group had the opportunity to visit, learn, exchange and cooperate with Seocho Gu District, Korea University, Kwangwoon University, Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH); and especially participated in events within the framework of the Seoripul Festival held in Seocho District.

At the meeting with representatives of Seocho District, the delegation had intimate exchanges with Mayor Jun Sung-soo and leaders of the Culture and Tourism Department, Smart City Department, and other departments. Within the scope of the work program, the delegation visited the Smart OK Complaint Center with services not only for district residents but for Korean people in general, the Smart Urban Management Center, and the Bangbae Natural Forest Library with the idea of changing lives through environment and culture, raising people's awareness about the forest environment through books. In February 2023, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the People's Committee of District 7 and Seocho Gu District. This three-party cooperation aims to improve human resource training, to develop research programs, to apply science and technology, cultural and artistic exchanges, and socio-economic development. On the occasion of this business trip, the parties signed a detailed Memorandum of Understanding to clarify and to deepen the contents of future cooperation. Hopefully, the three-party cooperation will be effective in developing smart cities through cultural and artistic activities, and scientific and technological applications.

On September 16 and 17, the delegation was honored to participate in the events within the framework of the Seoripul Festival held in Seocho District. The Seoripul cultural and artistic event was first launched in 2015 and this festival is one of the major events in the post-COVID-19 pandemic, which attracts the participation of thousands of people of all generations to enjoy various special programs.

During the business trip, the delegation met and discussed in detail with GH regarding cooperation in implementing the project sponsored by KOICA. Welcoming the delegation, on behalf of GH, General Director Seiyong Kim highly appreciated the cooperation between the two sides and expected positive and meaningful results from the project. At the same time, representatives of the parties hoped that this project would open up more opportunities for cooperation in the future.

The trip was an opportunity for UEH to strengthen and to expand cooperation with Korea's leading universities in research and training. Each partner with a distinct strength would be an opportunity for UEH to diversify its activities, in accordance with the orientation of multidisciplinary and sustainable development, including the implementation of cooperation with Korea University in student change, seminars, exhibitions, research, Media and Start-ups programs; promoting the cooperation with Kwangwoon University in the fields of AI, Robotics, Media & Design, and especially Start-up hub.

The trip was a meaningful experience for all members of the delegation. Both representatives of District 7 People's Committee and UEH have constantly exchanged learning and exploited opportunities for cooperation and development with a spirit of inquiry. In the new trend for a sustainable development society, District 7 People's Committee and UEH have continued to strengthen their pioneering role, to affirm their position and to expand international cooperation activities in different fields.
