Opening Ceremony of Course 46 - The first regular university course at UEH - Vinh Long Campus: Ready to become a key manpower in the digital transformation process of the Mekong Delta

The opening ceremony story began with the story of water - land - human being: A story about the challenges that people in Mekong Delta, possibly the family and the new students are facing: severe droughts, floods, mangrove area decreased, worries about the sea "gnaws" the shore, "swallows". Thus, students initially recognize and have thoughts and concerns about issues around them.

From the perspective of leadership of a province in the Mekong Delta, speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee shared more deeply about the challenges that Mekong Delta is facing and the shortage of high-quality human resources, hope that UEH - Vinh Long Campus will contribute to training high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta.

Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Principal of the school gave flowers to thank the leaders of Vinh Long province for their interest in supporting University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh Long Campus during the past time.

From the perspective of the school leaders, with the passion to contribute to training high-quality human resources to become the key manpower to contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta, the opening speech of the course, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council shared about the mission of training - research and consultation of UEH Vinh Long Campus: Vinh Long Campus of the school was formed to serve the socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta region through training of high quality human resources, with good knowledge, skills and flexibility to adapt to the continuously changing and integrated economy. At the same time, the campus also conducts research and scientific transfer in the economic and social fields, organizes the implementation of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research programs and projects to address challenges related to economy, society, environment, water resources management, forests, farmer agriculture and rural areas in the Mekong Delta.

The campus also conducts research for enterprise development, start-up innovation. Implementation of management policy consulting, planning and development for different levels of organizations. Vinh Long campus is a university training institution of the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City, so it is recommended to use high-quality UEH training programs, faculty, quality assurance process, test programs, business relationships and former students to support training, research, and consulting. The school is committed to the quality of training at Vinh Long campus equivalent to the quality of learning at the university's city campus.

The professor congratulated 240 new students - potential human resources for 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta in the fields of Economics and Agricultural Business, Business Administration, International Business, Banking, Business accounting and e-commerce. He advises what needs to be done to help new students quickly adapt, achieve high results in study, remain stable in their expertise, have high competitiveness, actively reach out to the domestic and international labor markets.

The story continues with the sharing from the new student representative of Course 46 - Regular university, Student Le Thi Kim Ngan, Faculty of Business Administration: I was born and raised in Tan Hoa commune, Lai Vung district, Dong Thap province. My family, my parents are all farmers and have huge difficulties in production. With my family's desire for the children to continue to study and with my dream of becoming a business in the future, I want to help parents to develop more in the family's profession and invest in development in service and management sectors. I aspire to rise and do not hesitate to grasp learning opportunities, becoming a student of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Vinh Long Campus ... with the learning goals that I determined when entering University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City: “Learn to know, learn to do, learn to share live and learn to self-affirm”. And in the position of always ready, actively self-study, cultivating necessary soft skills, practicing English, grasping technology,... as well as raising awareness of the environment, community, learning literature and grasp the world situation. Roundtable exchange talks around the questions: How has the digital era changed us, especially in the Mekong Delta? What challenges are facing the Mekong Delta in the shortage of high quality human resources, especially digital human resources? What is the motivation for young people to choose to develop their businesses in the Mekong Delta? In the digital age, what are the qualities of a graduate student and the need of a business for young human resources? What skills do students need right now to keep up with the digital age?

Students participated in discussions and listen to speakers at the opening ceremony.

All together to create a living story, a special opening ceremony about a generation of UEH students - Course 46 who have the potential to become key mapower in the digital transformation process of the Mekong Delta.

Also at the Opening Ceremony, in order to encourage the new students to reach the top valedictorian of the course and support disadvantaged students who have excelled in their studies, the school held 51 scholarships. (including 34 admission scholarships with high scores in enrollment and 17 scholarships to support difficulties for new students enrolled), with a total budget of: 314,000,000 VND deducted from the school's budget and lobbying for banks and businesses.
