The International Seminar "Contemporary issues in banking and finance: Sustainability, fintech and uncertainties" was held for the first time at UEH (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City)

The 2020 SOB International Seminar is a forum for the exchange of academic ideas for applying scientific theory to contemporary issues of the banking and finance industry. The main content of the Seminar focused on researching the sustainability of the banking and finance industry, property valuation, capital markets, environmental finance, financial technology (fintech), risk assessment of financial instability and risk management.

Attending the Seminar were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Editor-in-chief of Asian Business and Research Journal, Dr. Hoang Hai Yen - Head of Banking Department with leaders, lecturers and researchers from universities in Vietnam.

The Seminar brings together scholars, practitioners and policymakers from different countries with similar research and banking interests. In addition to the Vietnamese authors' entries participating in the Seminar, the Seminar also received articles from the US, Australia, Japan, Brunei, Czechoslovakia, Hong Kong, Thailand, New Zealand, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia ...

The research in the Seminar revolved around many different topics, in the field of Finance - Banking. Besides topics that interest researchers such as: the stock market, the efficiency and stability of the banking system, ownership structure and corporate governance or behavioural finance, the Seminar also received research on new, interesting and topical topics in the current period such as: digital technology applied in Finance - Banking or the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the field of Finance - Banking. This is also the group of topics that the Organizers of the Seminar want to address in the context of an integrated and modern economy, but also there are potential risks and instability.

The Seminar Content Board has selected 72 research papers in the yearbook and 66 presentations, discussions in 17 different sessions. At the same time, with the support and professional advice of the Editor-in-chief of some famous scientific journals in the world, the Seminar selected and awarded 06 awards for the best Seminar entries, including 2 awards from the Organizers of the Seminar and 4 awards from renowned journals, namely: Journal of Economic Asymmetries, the Economics and Business Letters, Asia-Pacific Financial Markets, and Quantitative Finance and Economics.

It can be seen that the SOB International Seminar is a channel of academic contributions from prestigious authors, contributing to solving contemporary issues of the banking and finance industry.
