The Ministry of Education and Training recognizes the UEH Council and the Chairman for the tenure 2020 - 2025

Attending the event, there were Assocc. Prof. Nguyen Van Phuc - Vice Minister of Education and Training' Assocc. Prof. Pham Hong Chuong - President of National Economics University; Party Committee of Universities and Colleges of HCMC, School Party Committee, School Council tenure 2020 - 2025, UEH Council tenure 2016 - 2021, Board of managemtn, and leaders from the school’s departments.

UEH Council tenure 2020 - 2025 to optimize leadership and management role in university autonomy mechanism

On August 14, 2020, the Minister of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2358/QD-BGDĐT, recognizing the Council of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) for the tenure 2020 - 2025. There are 25 members, in which 09 members represent officials and employees; 08 members represent lecturers; 08 members represent management bodies, social communities including leaders, managers, educators, culturalists, scientists, entrepreneurs, alumni, and representatives of the employer.

Notably, Members of the School Council include Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee; Assoc Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Acting Director General of Higher Education Department; Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuan - Chairman of Board of Directors of Vietnam Rubber Industry Group; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of Council of Members of Ho Chi Minh City Financial Investment Company; Mr. Pham Quoc Bao - Chairman of Council of Members of HCMC Power Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc - General Director of Ho Chi Minh Alliance of Cooperatives; Mr. Truong Quoc Hung - Deputy General Director of Phu My Hung Development Company Ltd; Mr. Lam Nguyen Hai Long - Director of Quang Trung Software City Company Ltd.

The UEH School Council plays an important role and decides on major issues of the school such as: development strategy and planning; organizational apparatus, personnel; regulation; direction of enrollment, major opening, training association; activities in science and technology; international cooperation in accordance with new regulations in Article 16 of the Amending Law, adding a number of Articles of Higher Education Law, School Council.

The university council for the tenure 2020 - 2025 performs the governance function in an autonomous university. The council has authority in deciding all the school's activities and the rector performs the function of management and administration in accordance with the law and the resolution of the School Board, complying with international practice.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, New Chairman of UEH Council for the tenure 2020 - 2025

On the same day, the Minister of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2359/QD-BGDĐT recognizing Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong as the President of UEH School Council for the 2020-2025 tenure.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong worked as UEH President for the term 2011 - 2016 and 2016 - 2021 with more than 38 years of experience in the education industry and at UEH, he is currently holding the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the University Division of HCMC, Vice Chairman of the Council of Presidents of Universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of the Council of Professor of Economics. Additionally, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong is an honorary doctor at Western Sydney University (Australia), and visiting professor at Lincoln University (UK).
